we have been playing with a customers track car, so we are going slightly different route than John, but I'm damn impressed with the results so far, and I assure you, if you like your car now, you will love it after tuning with EcuTek.

You in Houston, drop in, we can take care of ya, and we have a 100% money back on all our calibrations

Are you guys tuning the VVEL yet? I know it's in there already from when I talked to John a couple weeks ago but I got the impression that at least he was a little hesitant to really have at it as far as VVEL tuning goes. I, and I'm sure I'm not alone, am waiting for the VVEL tuning. This is the last thing keeping me from switching from Uprev to ECUtek.

I called GTM (they're the only pro tuner listed on the west coast for ecutek that can tune 370s on ecutek's site) about Ecutek.
I asked about VVEL tuning and the guy whom I assume is a tuner since I got transferred to him insisted "no there is no VVEL, theres only VVT tuning, but its not available yet."

I'm assuming he was just using VVT as a general term and doesn't know Nissan calls it VVEL for the vq37s. If thats the case though I hope theres a more informed tuner at GTM.....

370Z JT 05-15-2013 04:17 AM

Was GTM just recently added? I don't remember seeing them listed a couple weeks ago.

You spoke to me on the phone and the information that i gave you is accurate. EcuTek currently does not support VVEL ( not yet) only VVT .

The VQ37VHR engine have both, VVT stands for variable valve timing and VVEL stands for Variable valve event and lift .

Two complete different animals

If someone wants to come and let me work on VVEL tuning on there car I will be more then willing - but at their own risk. Since the tables are defined correctly in the Ecutek software I'm pretty sure we won't have any problems but I don't have a personal car to test it on.

Nice. I thought you guys were located in Dallas, but if not where in Houston are you located?

This. I need more than vague "everybody who tries it loves it" before I pay for another license for a software program. I'm ready to make the switch, the money's in my hand but show us some more, dammit.

I will when I have mine :tiphat: However, I expect it will be a few weeks before I have results. Being a DD, it's a bit more difficult for me to arrange to drop the car off with the tuner.

John

By at our own risk do you mean like you can destroy the engine if you dont get it right or are you just being cautious? And would you be able to do it at the location you have in NY if i would bring my car in?

Tell ya what, I'll put my money where my mouth is here; drop me a line, when I finish with JARblue( which should be this week, blue?) I'll do your car with nothing up front, if your not totally happy when I'm finished, you don't pay a cent. Fair enough?

My schedule changed up a bit, but I think I can drop it off Friday evening for you to play with this weekend if that's acceptable. I'll give you a call today or tomorrow to verify

I picked up my Z from Joe @ Dynotronics last night with the new EcuTek tune. Additional tuning and dyno will come later, but here is my review of the initial results.

How far out is this from being able to do things like modify the traction control?

It might be best that you wait until we have map switching and a few other things

What other things are you referring to? Also what kind of time frame are we talking about on the map switching?

how accurate is the remote tuning?

It is just as accurate as if one of us was standing there with you.

With the EcuTek ProECU kit we can download the calibration ID, then write a file based on your mods on your car. We send this to you via email. You load it then perform a series of drives cycles while logging, then return the data to us. We adjust and the cycle starts again. Depending on the car, it can be as few as 3 files to get this perfect, but we will continue until you an I are completely happy with the results.

We can also remotely access your laptop and help you thru the process if you need us to, but the whole deal is very easy, and painless.

Hope that answers your questions

With remote tuning can you also unlock the traction control so break lights would still work but traction cotrol and abls would be fully turned off?

that will most likely come with mapswitching, and some of the other cool features of RaceRom.

On the BRZ, we do a custom traction control set up thats far better than the factory stuff( well we think so anyway....)

Ill wait till you guys start tuning FIed cars

I know a local dealer of ECUTEK but the problem is he doesnt have the 370z/g37 software and said that i have to get the software by my self.. or get enough interest but thats not an option because people here wont pay:shakes head::shakes head:

Ill go for remote tuning if things didnt worked out well for me here.

If nothing else, let me know, I do at least one trip to the gulf a year to tune mazdas, I'm sure I could work you in next time around

gSwift 05-23-2013 06:55 PM

Anyone in the Georgia area doing the 370 platform yet? I'm about through with all bolt ons and will be ready for a tune within the next month or so. I was going to go with Uprev but I think this will eventually be the better option.

N0SL3N 05-23-2013 08:57 PM

I talked to an EcuTek tuner in my area and he said that he has no plans for it on the 370 platform. I am going there for some additional UpRev tuning and will wait to see the additional features of EcuTek to determine if remote tuning makes sense.

That would be the gurus at EcuTek, but they tell me soon. There has been such a great reception to this new software, that they are moving forward pretty quick
