Default Tuning questions, Uprev or Ecutek?

Bought a 12 touring a/t a few months back so far I've installed FI CBE, art test pipes, z1 CAI. this will be the first car I've had tuned so I don't know anything about it. What's the difference between ecutek and uprev. I live near Seattle, wa. So would I be better off going with a remote tune via specialty z ,z1 or finding a local shop with a dyno? Also I'm considering doing the z1 upper and lower intake manifolds, is it worth the money? I plan on staying NA with this car but I'd like to get the most out of it. I apologize for all the questions but would greatly appreciate any information. Thanks

I haven't seen to much on how far uprev has come. A lot of guys here run ecutek now because of the extra features like launch control and hijacking the oil temp gauge to adjust traction control.

I'd personally say go with Seb from specialty Z. He handled my tune remotely and I'm from NY. It's very straight forward, he's very quick with responses and cna answer any questions you have.

As for uppers and lowers. I'd just go upper if you're hell bent on doing it. Neither offer drastic changes. I run the m370 upper on mine and it's a negliganble improvement to power and maybe a small improvement on the butt dyno for mid range torque.

Ecutek is the favorite unless you are wanting to tune it yourself. Uprev is better than it used to be but still not quite at the level of Ecutek.

Seb is pretty busy with real builds, so I chose not to bother him with my lil ol' NA build. I've been speaking with Eugene Turkov (Bythabay on here) and I am very impressed with his communication and look forward to working with him.

For a simple NA tune you'll get similar results with either as long as the tuner knows what they're doing. If you have a preference in regards to dyno/etune/street tune then go with what the tuner you choose is most comfortable with.

I have a 2015 370z nismo with ecutek tune. Best on the market!

I'm in the tuning process with ECUTek and Seb at SpeciatlyZ and am loving the way the car feels! (Hopefully, I'm not a bother with my NA car...lol)

Ecutek is great and launch control is the best!
Great choice, you will not be disappointed.

First thing to ask yourself is your budget.

Uprev and ECUTEK both have added features which are additional $$ that are extremely recommended but you have to ask yourself if you're going to be utilizing any of these.

Uprev is cost effective and can get the job done

ECUTEK is the better software and comes with plenty of added features at 1/4 $$$ than Uprev

If all you want is better overall performance stick with Uprev, a dyno tune is what you want for both, email tunes with Uprev will require a TUNER cable to download/upload the files whereas a physical dyno tune wont.

I'd suggest you start searching for tuners in your area and pick their brains a bit on their recommendations. I usually go with whatever software my trusted tuner is more comfortable with since there WILL be issues, you want someone that can fix/point you in the right direction.

Good luck.

ecutek is not 1/4 the cost of Uprev

All you need is a basic interface cable to be tuned remotely, this is exactly the same with either ecutek or Uprev

As long as you don't use admin there shouldn't be any issues

I have the upper and lower on my car and I could tell a difference, and with the core charge, it's not too rough on the wallet.

Coming from Uprev, I'd recommend going with EcuTek out the gate. It's just the better software. You'll need a cable for either option if you go the remote tuning route.

Jon @ Z1 is excellent. I've heard nothing but great things about Seb @ Specialty Z as well, so you'll be in more than capable hands with whatever you decide there.
