Just found this because of new interest...

Looks like these guys tuned at 6 spring and 80 % as well. He mentions a treatment for the clut h pack that provides more life and smoother operation. I think the type F that I mentioned is similar as the discs are polished from the factory maybe a new option.

Thanks for the info Clint.

Im not sure if you can really make a call as to this treatment being all that the article says, having had it from the start but, any impressions on it being smooth and being able to run longer and harder?

If you don't mind answering how much extra was the WPC treated discs?

And the maint is not all that hard at all once you get it set where you want it. Oil changes but that is all of a 15-20 min job just do it every third oil change or 10,000 mi after break in.

even though i didnt try my LSD before and after WPC, i have tried other LSDs, and i know that WPC works for not only Differentials, but also engine parts. its only $200 to get the clutches treated and its a few day turn around. it totally worth it. look up stuff on WPC on youtube and google. it works.

For a dd only i wouldn't look at anything other than the quaife IMO. It's a drop it in and forget about setup is perfect for that. It gets harder to decide if you're gonna track the car too since the pro/con list starts getting longer.

That was one of the deciding factors of why I went with a quaife. Also I love the fact there is no harsh engagement with a quaife, no special oil, and no break in period. But as I progress in racing my car competitively then I will upgrade as necessary. There is a lot of hearsay about inside tire spin and it's basically an open diff. From what I have experiened so far is non of that. I have tried to get it to unlock and become an open diff but it's only when I try really hard to do so. I also don't have to worry about the damn thing too. Just like the clutch discs on a clutch type having to replace is few and far between. IMO anything is better than the stock vlsd and open diff no matter what.

Any torsen is better for a DD/occasional track car. Just some of us here have more track/occasional DD cars and the clutch type diff is better suited.

I am not going to give up on my Quaife for the track just yet. With my next set of track wheels/tires I am going with a square setup and should be able to go with less swaybar in the rear. This should mean less uploading of the inside rear, which should help the Quaife. If not then I will have no choice but to go with a clutch type.

Good strategy, get the most outta it. I did this also on my last time attack car and the quaife. Eventually though I went with a Kaaz and thought "why didn't I do this sooner?!" Lol

Default which one

Guys,

Great discussion have a LS factory "14" DD 370 as My real DD is a Suzuki.

So it gets me groceries and thru the snow for a while...

Would like to get really a very track focused car.
I think what I heard are VLSD is a bit more track focused
than the Quaffe

Suggestion on that?
I know clutces well from the bikes and there is a great difference in feel.
I can deal with some querkiness on the streat in traffic?? god knows I already do, but when the road opens up...
I don't want to give up the flying.

Cheers,
jb

General consensus is:

Open < VSLD < ATB (Quaife) < Clutch Type (OS Giken)
