Not if the rev limiter is moved higher and the car is tuned to make more power past 7500 rpms.

Isn't this classic. I've been through this so many times. We'd LIKE to think the quicker ET's will just show up at the booth, but, it rarely happens that way. In fact..... :confused:

Great work for such a sleeper. Really fast.

Yeah I've just been having one situational problem after another every time I go. I'm probably going to go just one more time in the spring to a private track rental with some of the guys here. Steve is planning to get some DR's for his 5.0 that he said I can use for a couple runs. Hopefully I'll be able to beat my stock street tire time as well. Hoping I get into the 12's again.

It's street tires or nothing for me.

Mine made power on the dyno up to 8k. I need to make some more passes to see what works.

I found out that my tach is off by ~200 RPM. The tach is +200 RPM from actual. Example: tach reads 7200 RPM, actual is 7000 RPM. :shakes head:

"practice makes perfect"

"if it was easy everyone would do it"

As I said earlier the biggest hurdle was figuring out the sweet spot for launching the new setup. That probably took me 20 passes to figure it out. But even with good launches it didn't feel right with the 4.08's - felt like I was shifting too early. And after the dyno tune session... it turns out the tach was off and I was shifting too early!

Good, consistent times will come soon enough. I just need some more passes to figure out how to get it done. :cool:

Thanks! :tup:

I just went out to the car and put black electrical tape over the HPS sticker on the post MAF tubes. Might even change the T-bolt clamps to something less conspicuous (as someone suggested to me). Still got the stock muffler and midpipe on there too. ;)

My tack is off by 200 rpm as well. I have the limiter set at 8100 . I have hit the limiter at 8300 rpm on the tack.
after 7600 rpm i feel that it just does not pull as hard. i usally try to shift at 7800 .
i see that your getting closer to my 12.42.
before i got SC , i will be running the fulley built GTM tranney with a quaife diff.

I'm looking forward to my first run at the track. I'm sure once I nail down the launch.. if I do anything less than 13.5 I will be very disappointed in mysef.

Don't worry too much about ET your first few times out. Just have fun and work on your 60', the rest will come with experience. :tup:

Made some (4 to be exact) passes tonight, beat my previous best from 2 weeks ago despite tonight's warmer, more humid weather.

previous best:
12.876 @ 109.40 mph
1.888 60ft
DA = 120 ft

tonight:
12.860 @ 109.09 mph
1.921 60ft
DA = 988 ft

With better 60' time, 12.7's. What h.p are you producing with the tune? I also see you are using a different exhaust. Is it better/different than Jason's. You also added headers? I'm still at LS or 370z:confused:

i was pulling off high 1.8x 60ft launches a few weeks ago.

270 rwhp on a mustang dyno (the tuner said 30 to 40hp above stock)
i swapped out the y-pipe with an aftermarket one
yes i added longtube headers
just flip a coin

Nice time. Still at it I love that.

It seems the hurdle is 60 ft...

Why not shoot a small shot of n2o go look at what the vq35de does with nitrous.

They are pulling some insanely good times with relatively small shots. Even maybe a 75 straight outta the hole. Should get you to 12.1-3 I'd imagine rather easily.
