As I'm giving thought to a 370z, you come out with a GT-r.
I posted somewhere here about the strip club.
I wasn't happy buying/bringing the wrong front wheels, not able to shift into 2nd, not launching the right way for slicks, front wide radials, & ply slicks ='d hairy rides, all over the place. Not in the best mood, so I'll take the blame, & owe both of you, dinner & strip club.
At least you made a decision. I don't know what I'm doing:confused:
My road test of the 370 didn't go well. Handling, everything was great, I just didn't feel the power at all. The rpm went to redline quick & easily, just no punch/flat. I know 370's are quicker, so it must be me, not used to that feel??? You know I'm long winded at posting.
I'm near Baltimore. Tomorrow I'm going to see my Z & discuss LS swap, or rewiring my car & moding it more, or getting a 370z & going after your record:) I'm so confused:eek:
If I had a car, plans for a Florida trip would be on my mind.
Then again, we don't have a car to race. If I build my LS, I'll race your GT-R next year:)

I ran a 14.322 this past Friday out here in Phoenix, AZ. Don't know if it had much to do with the track conditions being cold but I was definitely disappointed with my time. I have K&N Drop Ins, Mishimoto MAF Tubes and AAM Short tails. My tires are the base Yokohama Advans... reaction time on that run was .7. Anyone have any advice for me? I can't imagine why I would be a second slower than what the car is supposed to run bone stock. It was my first time at the track but I don't feel like I'm that bad of a driver...

Here's a vid from that night

The more power you to start to add really starts to show the weakness of the tire.
You need 2.0 or lower 60's and no lift shifts and you will get in the low 13's to high 12's

R/T means nothing, unless you are actually racing.

60' is ALMOST everything.

And if your 60' is good, then maybe your shifting is slow.

I would say it is a combination of factors. My car stock was running a 15.3 for my best time. I have a few things to factor in though. Biggest thing being my lack of experience at the drag strip. Also the track is at roughly 3700 feet above sea level which plays a huge role. I think with more practice you will see better times.

Before I put the SC on the car for this year im going to try to lower the N/A bar into the 12.19's I will have the GTM built 7 AT with a quiafe in the diff. The car will loose another 40 lbs bring it down to 3320 lbs with me in it. Present 60 ft time 1.835.with the GTM converter.
The torque converter has been sent to Pro tourque to raise the stall on the GTM converter to 3500rpm from 1800 rpm.
Time will tell what ti will run with a preped track in april.

It was a good night for racing. I made 3 passes tonight with the new parts on the car, the track was pretty well prepped. My 60ft times in order: 1.94; 1.89; 1.88 seconds.

Final pass of the night:
12.876 @ 109.40 mph
1.888 ft

mods:
Stillen oil cooler
JWT flywheel
4.08 gears
SPL solid diff bushings
SPC rear camber arms
HPS post MAF tubes
DBA 2pc front rotors
FI longtube headers
Motordyne XYZ catted pipe (y-pipe w/ cat)
Stillen crank pulley
Uprev tune

The car still has more in it, just need to get used to revving it out to 8000 rpm (shortshifted 1st and 2nd gear). Also had a little wheelhop @the top of 1st and shifting into 2nd gear. :icon14:

Thanks bro. Just like you, I set one really good time (with minimal mods) and have been struggling to beat it even after installing more mods. It took a few nights of practice to figure out how to consistently get the car off the line quickly with the new gears + tires + alignment.

The car is running good with all the new parts, I just need to utilize the 8k rev limit and shift a bit quicker to get the last few tenths out of this setup. I think on a good day with the proper driving I can get 12.5 @ 110 mph. I'd be happy with that, especially since from the exterior the car looks and almost sounds STOCK. :icon17:

Yeah I've just been having one situational problem after another every time I go. I'm probably going to go just one more time in the spring to a private track rental with some of the guys here. Steve is planning to get some DR's for his 5.0 that he said I can use for a couple runs. Hopefully I'll be able to beat my stock street tire time as well. Hoping I get into the 12's again.

If you shift at 7200 to 7400 you will go faster, The ECU kills the moter past 7600 rpm.
