I don't get it
I used to check the drag racing section all the time. Since the #1 racer(Jason) stopped participating, the drags section became a complete bore.
When you have fully modded cars, 300+ whp, that can rev to 8k, & weigh only 3200lb. & people are having problems breaking 13 seconds. That is very sad. There should be guys breaking into the 11.9's........ :shakes head: |
What? Are you serious? I dont know of any cars that are running high 11's with only 300-320whp that weigh 3200+.
Sounds like you are just trying to troll :) DAN |
11's with 300whp and a 3200 lbs car. Dang!!

Just checked drag times. Many STOCK Mustangs gt 412hp apx. 330-350whp. weighting 500lb's more, with stock 3.30 gears, some with even stock tires turnning mid 12's. ?????? Physics ???? |
Well one of the top 2 guys was using drag radials and he's pretty much the only one doing so that's still N/A. Hell I did my runs with all season tires, so I should do much better with summer tires or DRs. They also swapped to the 3.08 gears which helped get better times. The point is that not many people here are focusing just on drag racing or even modding their cars specifically for drag racing.
BTW the stock Mustang GT's are making more like 370-390 whp and that SRA gives them a better advantage for drag racing. :tiphat: |

I also never had a problem with the 370z. May get one. "NOT MANY PEOPLE HERE ARE FOCUSING ON DRAG RACING OR EVEN MODDING" OH REALLY How many posts are about dynos, whp, modding, going fast, more power, begging Nissan to add more HP, make the next Z car quicker ??? ENDLESS!!!! Besides fun, going to the drag strip is a way to confirm if "the feel in the seat/pants" (is that the saying?) is for real. I see that this thread has more than 26,500 viewers:) You have an automatic. It's not like you pop the clutch at 5,500 rpm, so tires is a much smaller deal for you. YES, tires & gears do help. So ????? |

I didn't say that people aren't focusing on modding, I said they aren't modding their cars specifically towards drag racing. By this I mean that they aren't modding with the specific focus of improving their drag strip time. More people here are concerned with improving their overall quickness (bolt-on power mods) and handling (springs, coils, sway bars, etc.). Now I am far from an expert on drag racing, but I don't think my -2.5* of camber is the optimal set up for drag racing. It is however better for driving on a road course, which is what I'm getting my car ready for. I've gone to the drag strip numerous times over the past year and have only gotten 2 people to actually come out and race their cars with me. A couple others have come to watch, but most 370Z owners don't seem to be interested in drag racing. If we go on a cruise through some back roads we can easily get 10-20 cars to join in from our local club, but none really for drag racing. |
Good answer/makes sense.
Having fun is what it is about. Have a good day.:tiphat: |

I use my 09 Challenger (11.19 at 128MPH) as a drag strip weapon, the Z is more of a go kart to me.
I did take it to the track and hit a 13 flat at 105 or 108 or something with it dead bone stock on the stock street tires. The 60's were horrible at 2.1x and it still hit 13.080. I had the launch down, but the shift from 1-2 would fish tail, poor track prep and street tires won't get it done. I have no doubt with some grip I could get my Z easily in to the 12s....I'd guess a 12.7 or 12.8 pretty easily. With a REAL sticky tire probably 12.50s. |

With slicks & 4.08 gears you can do 1.7's 60' with a 370z, & the Z besides being much lighter, drives straight like an arrow. You have experience. Why don't you go for it..... |

I may see if the slicks from my Challenger will fit the Z, but I already have one drag car. The Z is just a fun daily driver toy for me. I am quite impressed with it in stock form though. It's faster than a 2010 SRT8 Challenger stock for stock. Pretty amazing for a V6. |

Didn't realize you still had a drag car. Why bother. |
