I have a co-worker who has a SS and wants to run one weekend at the track. I have looked at the test run against the mustang vs the camaro and the mustang vs 370. The numbers are very close with the Z getting the mustang but I have not seen any runs of the Z vs the SS. Although the camaro has almost 100 horses more than the Z, it also has the extra weight that goes along with the camaro. The V6 Camaro has 300 horses, but I'm sure it would not run with the Z. If the camaro is faster, I won't know how much until I am up against it. I guess we'll have to see who hooks up first....and if it's me, I'm sure he will have to work to catch me.

I don't really believe it'll be a blow out, by no means.

I'm a big muscle car fan, most of my previous cars have been mustangs or camaros.
But we all know that the muscle cars of today are not what the used to be.
I you see the reviews between the camaro ss vs challenger rt vs mustang gt, they all say that the mustang gt is the better fo the 3 cars even with the least power of the bunch. and the 370z beat the mustang gt in all of the reviews dane to the these day.
i as many of you gauy bought the 370z because of its history, the uniqueness that it has on the road and the potential that it can achive, but to get there it needs way more money. thats why you see a dozen different types of mustangs on the road.
the 370z is the best car of the 4, even right now you see some 350z's that make you turn around because it looks so good, but mustangs and camaros are like starbucks or mcdonald's, there are one in ever single corner. still love them, but i would buy another one unless is a classic, a true nuscle car. imo

True, they are much faster and much more competent road cars.

I say a Z with a good driver could get him, but the Z driver would need to have greater skill than the Camaro driver, if the Chevy driver is any good he should win.

Feels really heavy and slow in it's transient response. Overall not a bad looking car but not for me.

Dynoed the car last night with all the N/A mod's, 310 SAE or 320 actual rwhp.
Car is running a little lean. It accelerates much faster than before. If all goes well the 1/4 mile calculator says that it will 12.49 to 12.52. (18 SAE + RWHP = the car will be 32lbs lighter than last years weight + the drag radials)
Will post time's after the track open's in April,

With your radials, you will put down some good times. In San Antonio I trapped at 116.9 with an et of 13.6! Damn I'm good.

Car and driver said the Camaro does the 1/4 mile at 13.4. Isnt that what the Z is about? i would think it would be a good race, since I would figure the Camaro would wheel spin more also but either way...

Posted this on June 26, 2010 on the "Official 370Z 1/4 mile Times thread (Stock, TT, Nitrous, Supercharger, Bolt ons etc)" thread.

Houston Raceway Park, Fri. June 25, 80 degrees, 80% humidity, press. 30"
Best run out of 7 runs:

R/T - .610
60' - 2.081
330 - 5.689
1/8 - 8.619
MPH - 86.27
1000 - 11.174
1/4 - 13.333
MPH - 105.23

It was a really typical SE Texas summer night, warm and humid! Oh yeah, forgot to mention that the tank was full of gas too!

Note: only mod on car is an Invidia CBE

Stock vs Stock both cars driven properly the SS should have a slight edge..

my best pass was against a camaro SS and you can tell his MPH was the same but his 60 was awful.. would of been a great race if he hooked...

i ran 12.9 him 13.9 lol

heres the slip

Nearly the same trap but about a full second difference!

Goes to show how much a sub 2 second 60' matters.
