370z vs Camaro SS

Has anyone run against the new (09/10) Camaro SS at the track...if so what was the results?

A purely Sports car ("Z"), vs a Muscle car...Different categories, dude. V6 vs V8...I'd love to see the Camaro against the GT-R, now THAT would level things up a bit!!!

The Camaro is a 13.1 second 1/4 mile car, the GT-R is a mid 11 second car.
The 370z in a straight line will lose stock to stock to a a Camaro SS but it will still be close and a bad shift or bad launch from the Camaro and the Z might stand a chance.

I've seen them drag at the track here, they struggle pretty hard in the pit, terrible wheel spin, if the Z hooks and gets a good launch, it could win. Hell, someone in an auto would have an even better chance. Once I get this Cobb tune and get a dyno done, i'll do my best to run one. They usually lurk at the track here and challenge people they know they can beat, lame a$$es.

BTW, Camaros = the New Mustang, starting to overcrowd the streets here already, thank god I didnt buy one.

Hell yes they are, got like 8-10 here in town and it's a small city. There are 3 370Z's, including mine, now and one is a Nismo.

Will let everyone know in the next month or two once our local track reopens. I've got a stock 09 sport touring. My girlfriend has a 2010 Camaro 2SS 6-speed MT. Honesly I think given we can both hook up she will take me in a straight line. Driving her car you can just feel the torque it has. It's only problem is the weight it carries. We will be auto-x this weekend and I have no doubt who the winner will be:tup:

Must be nice to have a chick like that and can drive MT...how good is she with the MT?

One_Quick_Z 03-10-2010 03:30 PM

Last Fall I was at the track and Ran against New Challenger R/T's and Charger Daytonas and they were not even close to hitting my 13.3 which was the best for me that day. Both models were high 13's at best. It would be fun to run a new SS I think it would be very very close.

Edit---- Until you make the turn and the SS spins out :)

It's very nice actually. When we go racing I get to have my arm candy but then when it's time to race she can bring it too. As for her skills with the manual, she has room for improvement. Her previous car was an auto C6 Vette. She is used to driving sports cars and can handle them quite well, but she has been out of the manual scene for the last few years so she needs to get used to it again. Plus it's a new car anyway, so she is still getting used to it. This weekend will be the first time she actually pushes the car since buying it, so it will be a good expirence. As for the launch for a drag race, her car comes with launch control. So the only thing she has to worry about is shifting after that. I plan I trying that out for myself this weekend as well down an empty road.

Would not be a problem to beat then in the 1/4 mile.
