It has massive amounts of air flowing into the engine bay and underneath the car. Downside not enough venting to get the air out, under braking into high speed corner the rear end would get very light and start to move around and you visibly see the hood shaking and hear the undertray scraping lol. Almost the car still seems to run happy at 270 degree oil temps, would of loved to logged at the oil temps, with pulling power when oil temps reached 280. This is in 90 plus degree heat with humidity ranging from 60-90%. Hopefully we can take this information and make some
Improvement to reach out sub 2:30 goal on street tires.
I don't think Eddie's car is on coilovers but if so soften the dampening or get softer springs since the track is so bumpy. I sounds like you have excellent grip up front. It may be time for a rear wind.

I love that Fugi hood, but that was why I sold it to Eddie. I was driving faster and the hood wasn't moving enough air. So I started talking to #trackspec to develop the hood vents for the Z. There is a real cost to getting faster! LMAO

I have the trackspec center hood vent In my OEM hood, and I feel like it lets enough air And heat escape. Hard to be sure. I softened my dampening as well to help with the Sebring bumps. Seemed to help a little with the ABS.

Yeah 2:31 was my best. I think by biggest issue is the driver mod. Absolutely no reason I should be at 2:31 on slicks and aero. I ran that speed before all the mods. Frustrating. I did notice the impact of the heat and humidity. Car was panting. But hey, that’s why there’s next time! Back out there in a few weeks on my new brake setup. Hope to see you guys out there again soon.

Good point on driver mod! Been reading and watching videos on trail braking and braking in general. A big factor in trail braking is to ease in to the braking by applying firm but smooth pedal and then gradually release the pedal. Braking hard into a corner and then releasing the pressure quickly will upset the car especially at speed. The sayings are smooth in smooth out or smooth is fast and fast is smooth. The brake and gas pedals are not on off switches!

The Stomp Method isn't the fastest way of doing things. Stomping on the gas or brakes will get you into trouble.

Agree. I mumble “smooth is fast” under my breath while on track all the time, but heavy breaking doesn’t alway mean it’s not smooth. I’m working on my EOB (end of braking) timing. Ross Bentley has a lot of good videos on the subject. He suggests focusing on EOB as much if not more than beginning of braking. Takes trail braking to the next level mentally.

Agreed! Heavy or threshold braking does not equal stomping or standing on the brake. Threshold brake can be done smoothly and quickly. Ross Bentley's stuff is spot on! EOB is the stuff that make you faster.

What was noticeable on the video of your runs together was that the faster car was breaking earlier and therefore able to carry more speed through the turn. Slow in fast out. Get most of your braking done early and slowly bleed off the brake into corner entry and then on the throttle at the apex.

Nope, faster in faster out. Just more grip in the fall then in summer. Ferrari challenge cups with professional drivers were 6-8. Seconds off pace.

I sat in the trailer and spoke with both drivers. They usually run 2:07’s they couldn’t even touch 2:12’s that day even on stickers
