Don't fall into the media hype, they're taking quotes out of context and paint the situation much worse than it actually is. They asked him SPECIFICALLY about his Arsenal future, what else is he going to say? That he's happy warming the bench for Arsenal for the rest of his life? I think he's got a valid point, he loves the club, but if he's not going to be able to perform for the shirt, it's time to move on.

But it's a sign of a good footballer that he WANTS to play, he WANTS to be out there contributing. Arsene just hasn't seen the opportunities to play him, not with our current front line firing on all cylinders. But God knows we really do need him, as Chamakh has lost all form since RvP's return. NB52's the best striker we have after RvP, hands down. Double digit goals off the bench? That's rare to find.

He's got a real quality about him (goal against Ipswich was ridiculously good). If he can ever channel THAT form consistently, he would be starting along side Robin van Persie, not waiting for those Dutch chocolate legs to fall off before getting his chance. I don't think he's itching to leave Arsenal, he's just really, really, wanting to play. I hope we don't lose him, regardless of his sometimes maddening whiffs through on goal.

Red370 02-13-2011 07:07 PM

I dunno whats gotten into RvP lately but the dudes been lights out since he rediscovered his form, once again, confirming the fact that when healthy, is one of the worlds best strikers. 10 goals in 7 games, nobody else in the premiership has been on such a tear.

cow 02-14-2011 07:11 AM

Yep.

cow 02-15-2011 01:03 PM

She got the 50GBP one-- just bought a car so she's in cheap mode, lol.

I'm still pretty fcuking stoked.

& I'm with you on the being excited for tomorrow. I woke up this morning & told her, "I can't wait for tomorrow." I couldn't see her, but I'm assuming she rolled her eyes at me.

phelan 02-15-2011 02:32 PM

this chant i'm hearing about - hands off cesc fabregas - is VERY classless. why are some gooners stooping down to laporta-esque levels? TRANSFER WINDOW IS CLOSED. SUPPORT YOUR TEAM YOU ARSEHOLES.

cow 02-15-2011 07:50 PM

After watching the Milan/ Spurs tie, Milan (& especially Gattuso) were absolutely disgusting. I found myself wanting Spurs to win the tie. Flamini's tackle on Corluka should have been a red-- two-footed into the player's foot. After that, the Milan players were standing over Corluka trying to get him off the pitch-- the medics were scared to put the guy on the stretcher for fear of moving his leg.

Then Gattuso shoved Crouch for winning a header. It's like, "Dude, Crouch is 9'13". He's going to win a header over you." After that, Gattuso shoved a Spurs assistant coach, & then shoved & headbutted the coach AFTER the match when the teams were shaking hands. (I don't know what the coach said, but either way, Gattuso was the fcuking captain-- he needs to set a good example for his team.)

Appalling stuff from Milan. I know it's Spurs, but I'm glad Milan lost. Ugly, shameful stuff.

Gattuso's banned for the next match (yellow card accumulation)-- should Milan go through, I hope UEFA suspends him at least a further game.

Red370 02-16-2011 09:45 AM

Right. But still, stfu Adebayor.

I watch A LOT of Barcelona matches-- probably 90%-- & have seen them lose or draw a few games, but I've never seen them lose to a team who was positive. It's always been the teams who 'park the bus.'

In the first leg of the semifinal last year, Internazionale sat back, absorbed pressure, & then hit on the break. Arsenal scored a break goal, but consistently tried to play in Barca's half of the field.

The passing stats are flat out ridiculous though. Barca doubled us up easily in the 1st half alone, it was like watching a metronome out there.

Agreed though that nobody in La Liga, even Real Madrid (who are now coached by Jose Parkthebusho), want to take it to Barca. It seems like when the Blaugrana roll into town, it's a matter of damage limitation, which I don't really like to see.

Credit where its due, Barca absolutely shat on Arsenal in terms of possession. We got lucky on RvP's goal, too, but if this doesn't instill confidence in the Gunners, I don't know what will. They should feel like the Premier League is there for the taking right now.

BTW - Szczesny is a nutjob.

blue660r01 02-16-2011 05:26 PM

Arsenal is still in trouble by allowing that goal IMO. Will be tough to pull it off at Barca.

cow 02-16-2011 07:06 PM

Watching again.

:)

phelan 02-16-2011 07:13 PM

blue - indeed it will be tough, but the team, as they stand right now, can rise to such an occasion. it's going to be one hell of an away match for sure.

cow - hahahaha, yes, i'm keeping this match on my tivo for a loooong time :rofl2:

cow 02-17-2011 09:37 AM

At work today. Slept amazingly well. Apparently yesterday wasn't a dream.

blue660r01 02-17-2011 11:10 AM

All barca needs is a 1-0 win. Just feel that away goal will haunt Arsenal

cow 02-17-2011 11:15 AM

Even if Arsenal doesn't progress, last night was special & will go a LONG way to instilling belief in the young players that they're capable of doing great things.
