No it isnt. BTW you do realize they only beat England who sucks *** right? :icon18:

Let them beat a legit team and then I will be convinced. (friendly only anyways so it means NOTHING since it wasnt full squads)

phelan 11-17-2010 06:28 PM

haha, i didn't go so far as to comment on form. i only mentioned it was a mildly entertaining fixture that may / may not have a heavy impact on the EPL. poor poor scousers, stevie G is hurt again...

but yeah, england fking sucks if their entire gameplan is "hey guys! long balls to andy carroll!!!!!"

walcott didn't get any help from the midfield at all, and gibbs...needs more matches under his belt to get back to full speed.

blue660r01 11-17-2010 07:03 PM

You lost me at England sucks if....

You had me at England sucks. Need I remind you of the demolishing? People doubted Germany and favored England because they are on the English ****.

Maybe it's a blessing in disguise that Nasri played the whole match-- I've got the feeling Gallas is going to try to hurt him.

phelan 11-18-2010 10:36 AM

If he does, Fabregas better ruin Gallas' leg with a crunching tackle that he's growing fond of...

Red370 11-18-2010 02:23 PM

what I dont get is why players need so much damn rest, i've been in soccer tournaments that require you to play 4-5 full time matches over a weekend, 3 days is plenty of rest between matches. But in a way, I agree, Nasri and Gallas are going to clash, so its probably best to rest him, but against the yids, as much as I hate to say it, we'll need every ounce of talent we can get on the pitch. If Jacky is still hurt, I have a feeling le petit Zidane will be playing a part.

Red370 11-18-2010 02:24 PM

quick question, how many times can you count in a match that Nasri disposesses a ball? i've probably seen one in 3 or 4 matches. He reminds me alot of Xavi in that respect.

cow 11-18-2010 05:36 PM

I just realized I won't get to see the fcuking match until Sunday night or even Monday. Fcuk everything.

:( I'm waking up at 6:20am on a Saturday just to watch the derby, im effin' pumped. I'm hoping Jacky is well enough to play. I'm going with 2-1 to the Arsenal, Fabregas and Walcott on the scoresheet with Defoe for the spuds.

phelan 11-19-2010 09:58 AM

did Defoe pass fitness??? i thought he was still a big doubt for the derby.

edit: guess he did. he will still be rusty, but he has the ability to latch onto whatever cross bale is going to put in. hopefully sagna keeps bale in his pocket.

wilshere is available too.

i'd say 1-1 actually due to the frailty of our back line (if we had TV5 this would be a different story). walcott on the goal for us, van der vaart for tottenham.

Red370 11-19-2010 10:15 AM

I was reading a quote from some spuds player i've never heard of on goal.com that concedes Sagna has the same pace as Bale, so Bale wont be able to use his pace to get round him, and in a way, I agree, I think the Bakery will keep the wing completely blocked off, however, the early cross is always a threat from Bale, the Frenchies are going to have to hold that back line solid. I think Theo is going to be an absolute terror down the right wing and I think hes going to be knocking some dangerous balls into the box, which is why I think we'll win on the day. Fab is going to have to put on a masterclass in midfield to assure the 3 points but it always seems his game is much better against better quality opponents.

cow 11-20-2010 08:41 AM

I found a TV. I wish I hadn't.

******* ****.

phelan 11-20-2010 10:53 AM

****.

CHELSEA dropped points too...god dammit, there goes my weekend.

ManU 2nd only by inferior GD now. ughhhhh

what the hell is up with our home form? why did we just totally GIVE UP 2-0 up???????

blue660r01 11-20-2010 11:08 AM

:icon17: Just saw the highlights. Someone was a little pissed

batman_4 11-20-2010 12:18 PM

Fabregas' little hand move was lame, glad Spurs took it :happydance:

cow 11-24-2010 09:25 AM

How 'bout them Gunners?!

:ughdance:

phelan 11-24-2010 09:46 AM

i heard from someone that after the spurs game, someone threw their jersey into the stairwell. by the time everybody left, it was still there. not a good day for the gunners.

then...portugal...braga...

WHY PLAY CESC?!?!?!??????? WHY?????????????????????????????

Red370 11-24-2010 04:07 PM

i've been reading up, alot of English Gunners are calling for AW's head, and with the way this season is going, im not 100% against them... i'm quickly losing faith fellas, i'll always be a gunner, but I think we might have to make some drastic changes.

phelan 11-25-2010 12:24 AM

My question is, who do you replace Wenger with?

I'm far from the "In Arsene We Trust" crowd, but I'm also against those who are quickly calling for his head. Honestly, I'll take Wenger's philosophies over '1-nil to the arsenal', Mourinho-esque defenses any day.

I love this team, and even though we don't really deserve it right now, we're two points from top at the league, and a win away in the CL. Opportunities abound, it's up to the team to take it.

With that said, I hope we really do sign someone like Philippe Mexes to shore up the defensive line. With TV5 abducted by aliens still injured, we need some cooler heads back there. Squillaci is a vocal leader but doesn't have the step or strength to compete for a full 90. Koscielny shouldn't need to be utilize his good tackling skills if he's a centre-back, time and again he's been caught out of position.

and I really, REALLY don't want to get started about Denilson.

cow 11-27-2010 08:14 PM

Nasri was on beast mode today.

I can't help but feel that was the least comprehensive 4-2 win I've ever seen, though.

Berba hit five. I hope he's got it put his system for when we go there.

phelan 11-28-2010 12:21 AM

it was scary to watch. 2-0 up at halftime but we continue to be wasteful in the final third of the pitch. nasri was an absolute beast but he really should've put the goal in right after arshavin's goal. 3-0 at halftime, with 4-0 not unreasonable.

MOTM? arshavin / chamakh / nasri? toss-up for me, i actually go with arshavin though, who finally put in a good match's worth of energy.

the defense is atrocious as always. can't wait for TV5 to come back.

cow 11-28-2010 08:23 AM

Someone on TGH made the point that Koscielny might make a good DM because of his tackling skills & lack of CB build. It was an interesting thought.

but does he have the ball control and distribution ability needed in such a vital position? Havent seen much of that while hes been on defense, so it would be hard to judge. And while a defensive mid's primary job is of course, to distribute the ball ahead and play solid defense, they also need to have some sort of goal scoring ability, should the opportunity arise, and from what i've seen of Kos, hes missed a handful of sitters, not the kind of guy i'd want going forward.

As for the match, as yall have said, Nasri was once again a force to be reckoned with, hes our best player this year and has been since the season began. Its almost as if we play better when Fabregas is out, and while Cesc is a very valuable player for us, I dont think he would be sorely missed, should Inter or Barca snap him up. Jacky and Nasri are combining extremely well, and Songs game has improved dramatically from last year. Watching Cesc lately is reminding me alot of Thierry Henry in his final days for us, lackluster displays, stupid mistakes (yall dont need me to remind you of last week), it just doesnt seem like hes playing with his whole heart anymore. Now could this be due to a niggling injury? sure it can, and im hoping thats the reason, but I hope hes not doing it to secure an easier exit.

That being said, whats gotten into our boy Jacky? Its beyond me to understand how such a young footballer can be so calm and collected on the ball, make such intelligent passes, and runs that stretch defenses all over the place. The kid plays beyond his years, just imagine the guy at 25. I wouldnt doubt that he'll be one of Englands best to ever play the game eventually.

And I dunno what it is, but warming the pine must have jumpstarted the little Russian boys game, he came out blazing yesterday, he was all over the place and his work rate increased ten fold. Guess he wants his old place on the starting lineup back.

batman_4 11-29-2010 01:53 PM

this is great.....about to turn on the tv for the Clasico and Time Warner is telling me GOL TV is not available at the time  :wtf:  :bs:

phelan 11-29-2010 02:02 PM

i hope real madrid beats the sh*t out of barca on their own turf. that'd be great.

god DAMN i wish i could be there. the atmosphere must be unreal.

edit: 4-0 to barca? 66% of the possession? wow madrid, way to suck it BIG TIME on the greatest stage.

Barca absolutely humiliated Madrid. It was fantastic to watch.

Even already knowing the score, it's worth watching the match. It was probably the most virtuouso team performance against great competition I've ever seen.

cow 11-30-2010 08:58 AM

I hope all the Arsenal players watched that match last night & saw that it is possible to dominate possession & be incisive.

It was an absolute master class.

blue660r01 11-30-2010 01:26 PM

Arsenal isnt Barca

Add insult to injury....UEFA banned Mourinho, Alonso, and Ramos for a game in the "second yellow" incident when they played Ajax. They also fined Mourinho 40,000 Euros.

Carling Cup kick offs in just a bit......

The bans are a bit of a farce being the match is to be a dead rubber with Madrid already through to the knockout stage. If UEFA wanted to send a real message, they would have suspended Mourinho for two matches & the players would have received a game beyond their red card missed games.

All in all, I'd say it was the capper to a pretty poor weak for Sergio Ramos.

^ this. Mourinho is probably going "JUST AS PLANNED" while :stirthepot:

UEFA should've tossed them the two match ban so Mourinho doesn't ever think it's a good idea ever again.

I'd also be scared to be Auxerre right now. Real Madrid could be in wounded tiger mode for the next few weeks. Scary stuff.

lulz Arsenal 1-0 due to a Wigan OG. Fail.

Red370 11-30-2010 04:57 PM

I just wanted to post this for the simple fact that Jacky Wilshere's passes are facking ridiculous... where the hell does he get vision like this?

phelan 11-30-2010 05:09 PM

Today's game has proved to me one thing - Nicklas Bendtner talks waaaay too much. He got lucky he managed to scoot that cross over the goal line. Other than that, he's off target from too close time and again, and his work rate is about 60% of Chamakh's.

cow 12-02-2010 10:47 AM

Qatar?!?!?!?! wtf?

gladeslvrcoq 12-03-2010 01:11 PM

^ +1...it's all about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. I'm convinced that FIFA runs a shady business.

phelan 12-04-2010 06:12 PM

Don't forget who set that up. van Persie easily could've snapped that shot off, but he laid it off for Nasri. Brilliant play, I'm loving Wenger setting van Persie up as a provider forward.

Note to Chamakh: SHOOT THE F*CKING BALL!!!!
