I especially hate when two fighters jaw at each other and the fight ends up being a real stinker, like Rampage/Rashad.

There is always an exception to the rule. Rampage is done and it will be interesting to see if Rashad makes the move to middleweight.

If he is successful and wins one or two fights in middleweight. We could see a Silva/Evans fight if Silva isnt retired by then.

It's no exception. Most of the TUF series center around smacktalking coaches. Serra vs. Hughes would have been epic, had Serra not gotten hurt. Huge build-up, huge hype, nothing great came of it. There haven't been many truly epic fights between TUF coaches. The Kos/GSP fight was over in the first round.

It's gonna get so played out. It's like when beef starts up at boxing weigh-ins. It's so staged. You know it's acting. Same with the UFC hype. Same with WWE "back stage interviews".

If all that crap, all that fluff, appeals to you, then go ahead and watch it for that. I watch it for what goes on in the ring. If a fighter needs to use trash talk to get in someone's head, it's to compensate for their shortcomings elsewhere. True champs don't need to talk. The belt around their waist says everything.

Fighters do all manner of things to try and intimidate their opponents, and it's all circus crap. Doing cartwheels around the ring, not fist-bumping, flexing. Whatever. Put up or shut up.

It would seem the consensus is that we all recognize its not real trash talk, but something to raise more money to get the lower iq people to pay to see it. We all put up with it, because it generally is a fantastic sport with fantastic participants. Its like have a fantastic sports car with only one cupholder.

Read that Rampage and Sonnen had some words exchanged between them. That might be an interesting fight. It would have tons of trash talking fight, but will probably end up like Rampage vs Evans.

Looks like we never discussed the UFC 149 results, so let's do it now. The Lombard vs Boetsch fight was a HUGE disappointment. I was expecting an exciting stand up war and got nothing. Neither of them deserve to even be close to a title shot right now, Silva would destroy them. Barao vs Faber was a good tactical fight and went kind of like I expected. I think Cruz vs Barao will be a good fight to watch. Will be interesting to see how Barao deals with the quickness and awkward movements of Cruz.

In other news, it seems like Anderson Silva's camp is calling for a catchweight fight with GSP. I would love to see this fight and I would have Silva winning it by KO/TKO.

yeah it sucked all around except for the jimmo KO that was awesome made the dude look like popeye lol.. glad i didnt pay for it

i read the GSP news too... i think of course its a great dream match up. but in the same sentence they talked about franklin 3 so im betting if he beats le it might be that fight first.

Yeah I almost forgot about the Cormier vs Mir fight.

I'd want GSP to take Silva out in some form or fashion. He has a way to pick people apart but he can't finish people. To beat Silva you have to take the fight to him fast and aggressive and get him on the ground.

As a Silva fan boy I certainly hope that won't happen

GSP will slow down a bit from gaining weight so might not be in his best form. I think his inability to finish fights will kill him in this one. Silva just needs one opportunity to finish the fight and he will find it whether it's in the first round or fifth. Silva will use his reach advantage to outside GSP and finish him. I think GSP won't start the fight like Sonnen did. He will take some time to test hos striking a bit early in the fight. I am excited to see how he does against GSP's takedowns though.

I don't think he'd be slow. He said himself if he had to gain weight it would be pure muscle. Only time tells.

Did you see him in the fight against Shields? He tried putting on a little bit of weight for that one and he looked terrible in that fight.

I'm excited for the fights tomorrow. Whoever wins most impressively in the main event and co-main event will get the next shot at the LHW title. I'm predicting that Shogun will easily handle Vera and Machida will get the win over Bader, but Shogun will walk away with the title shot. The odds seem to be stacked in his favor. I would like to see him next against Jones anyway (assuming Jones gets past Hendo) and hopefully try a different strategy this time.
