Mercedes do reappear as dominant. Im not totally shocked by qualy. That long straight neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeds power. They have it for sure still. Im hoping for a good race but that will probably be the result of a safety car because of the narrow old city section.
Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2017: Conclusions from qualifying | F1 News |
mmm.... that incident between vettel n hamilton... behind the safety car....
it's not the first time hamilton doing that kind of trick.... i am surprised and disappointed on how brundle showing how much a fanboy he is of hamilton.... :ugh2: |
Ahh! The whining of the engines. Oh wait. That's the drivers.
Never heard so many different pissing matches in one race. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

congrats to Stroll!!!
bottas... seems he just can't resist kissing raikkonen... :supergay: |
LOL. I can't believe the road rage on the circuit. Was a 10 sec penalty enough?

it's more like tricky vs overwhelmed on the track :icon17: hamilton did intentionally brake-tested vettel at the apex, it's not new from him and it's one of the many reasons i never like him, and never see him as a real WC. vettel, too much focus on complaining and lost concentration on his steering wheel thus ran into hamilton. really feel bad for raikonnen, but he didn't make a very clean start at first (vettel almost got him at the 1st corner) otherwise things could be totally different at 2nd corner. |
Vettel got -3 points for being a bad, bad boy.

Bottas put on a massive driving exhibition. Last to stealing second at the last second.
Maybe it would be better for him to start in the back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I lay all the blame on Vettel. What a whiner. Deliberately turning in on Hamilton should get a race ban. Also running into the back of Hamilton is all on Vettel as well. Just like on the street if you run into the back of someone it is your fault. And I am by no means a Hamilton fan. Kimi is my guy.
|
Vettel's penalty should have been 30 seconds for his unsafe and intentional act. It has also been proven that Hamilton did not brake check or test Vettel and that his action were the same on the previous restart. Vettel was just plain wrong anyway you slice that pie!
|
They should both be docked points, suspended for the next race and have to pay a monetary penalty, say $100,000 to charity for underprivileged children or a children's hospital. FIA has to put a stop to the shenanigans of these two sucky children. Otherwise, this 'circus' becomes an overpaid daycare for misbehaving and spoiled rich boys.

If everyone behaved, we would have nothing to talk about.
Best race of the year so far. This is what everyone wanted - a season which is unpredictable. So lets enjoy it. |
|
What a fun race. Congrats to Ricciardo for being so lucky - I'm a fan of the shoey :icon17: Nice drive by Stroll - too bad he couldn't hold off Bottas. Force India siblings carrying over some hostility from the last race got interesting. Bottas and Raikkonen come together yet again as well as Hamilton and Vettel.
Glad to see Alonso finish a race in the points, finally. And good job by Magnussen to get some points for Haas. Hamilton should have gotten a 10 sec penalty. Vettel threw the race away on that dumb maneuver - that was absolutely an intentional hit and completely unnecessary. Should have been a 30 sec penalty for him at least. |
Why should have Hamilton received a penalty as the telemetry showed he did not brake at all...he lilfted and Vettel was to close, not paying attention and accelerated into him.
I'm old school anyway, as the saying goes if you ain't cheating you ain't trying. Tell me of one great or multiple champion that doesn't have their own dirty little tricks. Hell Vettel has received many penalties in the past and or crashed out because of his aggressiveness. Alonso is right there too but he ain't got a car that makes it worth his while. I like both those guys. Come on now...racing is rubbing!!! Sent from my SM-N910P using Tapatalk |

That more the question to me...they had told him during the previous caution that he was to close to the safety car on the restart and that he needed to be further behind at least ten car links! He did what they asked...
Sent from my SM-N910P using Tapatalk |
Actually he was told both that he was too close and too far at different points during the race.
|
Agreed! So what's a guy to do? The best thing for me too win!
Sent from my SM-N910P using Tapatalk |
The reality is Hamilton received the ultimate penalty as Vettel gained 3 more points and the penalty he deserved should have taken him out of gaining any points.

Stewart defends Vettel's 'inappropriate behaviour' | PlanetF1 : PlanetF1
I agree with Jackie Stewart, they both should deserve a penalty, and while everyone's attention is being drawn to Vettel's childish behavior, nobody cares who initiated the incident. Quoted: “It would be very simple to put the complete blame on one man, but what initiated the bad behaviour was what happened before.” and while this can be an ongoing talks with no end... we should move on to the next race, Austria... Honda to bring 'Spec 3' PU to Austrian GP - GPUpdate.net Hopefully they will improve... :icon17: |
Apparently Jean Todt is considering bringing Vettel before an FIA tribunal. He needs those points removed. The FIA stripped Schumacher of his 2nd place in the final standings when he deliberately ran into Villenueve at the '97 Spanish GP. So there is precedent. Granted that was at racing speed so much more serious. What is obvious is that Vettel has learned well from his hero. At least Schumacher wasn't such a cry baby.

I thought it was hilarious when they went to his mic and he was chuckling. WTF? I won? Total opposite of last year's Monaco blunder. |

I love it when Hamilton loses a race! And you know it will be a great race when he's not in the lead as this last one was. I'm just tired of seeing Mercedes team drivers winning because they have a faster car than everyone else. All those rules and Mercedes still manages to have some unknown speed advantage.
|
it is "funny" because after so many years on the so-called cutting-budget and try the make the field an even ground...
big teams still have a big leading gap and small teams are still 2 laps behind. remember those days when people complains about the big teams always have tons of money to spend on extra sets of tires, tons of spare engines, 3rd chassis, extra testing cos they have extra fundings.... blah blah blah.. then FIA and F1 build those rules on limited tires, chassis, limited testings... however, the situation doesn't seems to be changing alot.... |
Formula-1 2017...!!

The money isn't being spent on quantity of spare parts now, but the quality (engineering). Same gobs of money being spent by the top teams. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Seb admits wrong and gets off with an apology. Should at least lose those points.
|
|
they should, everybody should, move on.
the next round is just around the corner and the incident was like 10 days ago. Honda is bring another update to Austria, hopefully it helps them escaping from all those trouble... it should be a 4 teams battle between mercedes, ferrari, red bull and mclaren. hopefully we can see that at the end of this season, if not, next season. |
|
he'll be fine, already 0.1s faster in the FP sessions, pretty sure they can squeeze out another 0.5s or more in the qualify.
start at 6th won't cost him anything really.. Bottas was 1 laps down in Baku and his pace plus all those incidents let him climbed back and clinch 2nd... but I hope it won't happen though, otherwise it's going to be another boring race. |
|
Bottas has been called by the NHRA for information on how to reduce their ETs. What an unbelievable start!
Please explain when Vettel became such a whiner? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Bottas is growing on many fans including myself.
Vettel is a whiner brat on the track. Hamilton is not having the year he expected. Max is looking forward to next year. Ricciardo is the most consistent so far. Alonso would be better off in a Sauber. This year has been interesting so far and I like it. |

I agree that it has been a good season so far. Austria was kind of boring but that's the tracks fault. Call me shallow, but my enthusiasm for F1 is diminished because of the lack of noise. The cars sound like crap. I'm sure it won't be long and I won't care about Motorsport. More and more hybrids and electric cars are bound to be the norm. Some how I can't get excited when they fly by me with a whoosh instead of a scream. Unfortunately, I can't stand NASCAR since I'm sure they won't embrace new technology until long after I'm dead.
