don't really buy those mercedes talk cos vettel just said what I've been thinking since the pre-season test...

Vettel reckons Mercedes is sandbagging - GPUpdate.net

mercedes was behind ferrari during the pre-season, and then the FP in melbourne GP, and then top the qualify in the last moment with some significant margin.

same in shanghai, same in bahrain....

it's only FP1 and 2 for now, pretty sure mercedes will pull something out from their pocket in qualify and race.

still... hope ferrari can keep the mercedes behind thus we will have a more exciting season and some droopy face from hamilton... :icon17::icon17:

Formula-1 2017...!!

What a race very exciting!!!! I hope the rest of the season is like this! :) I feel bad for Ricciardo and Alonso, their teams need to get their cars straightened out.

It was a very good race. Down to the last lap. I have a feeling the championship will come down to the last race of the year as well!!

Exciting qualify sessions!!!

Great to see Alonso back in the top 10 :tup:

And hopefully his car can run with full power and last the whole race.

the sectors time are actually very close between the ferrari and mercedes, only the ferrari is quite a bit off on the last sector, and it's somehow a massive +0.4s

It's a track which is almost impossible to overtake...looking forward for an exciting race tomorrow!:tup:

Yes and LH needs to guard his start against Bottas whos the better starter. Vettel will be lucky to be P2 starting on the dirty side. This will be won or lost at turn 1. Fun!

it's going to be interesting cos the first one is a chicane then follow by a long curve.

bottas made a fantastic start at sochi, it's going to be much tighter if he does the same thing tomorrow and get par with hamilton, i believe hamilton wouldn't be as nice/gentle as vettel...

hopefully what happened last year won't happen again this year.

I think the deciding factors will be the wind and who makes the least amount of errors. If you are in the lead and make mistake you will be toast!

A bit mixed up in Practice but Ferrari looking strong.

Also Indy with Alonso should be great viewing! Great racing weekend upon us!

Agree, some good racing this weekend. I normally don't watch the Indy 500, but I will this weekend, and I'll be rooting for Alonso

He's definitely got a chance. Pretty amazing that he's never raced ovals before and qualified 5th at 231+.

The speeds at Indy are nuts. Especially when you realize the track was built to allow cars to go up to 120mph.

I grew up and hour from there and when I was a kid, that was racing to me.

Long overdue LOL. Im a fan but he lacks major consistency. If he does not win this somehow I can see him NOT being at Ferrari next year. He has to deliver!

alcheng 05-27-2017 04:03 PM

finally, we have a front row other than silver colour :icon17:

I hope raikkonen will do fine and win the race tomorrow, monaco is a track that doesn't offer too much passing thus if there's no mistake or glitch on pit strategy... keeping the fingers crossed..

However, looking back to the previous races, raikkonen tends to have a slower race pace than the others top driver...

it's going to be an interesting race.

God-Speed 05-27-2017 09:25 PM

I just hope the Ferrari Team does not implement Team Orders.

Kzonts 05-27-2017 09:50 PM

Monaco is more of a spectacle than a race, but for some reason I enjoy watching it. And now the cars are faster and wider so we'll see how it goes.

TreeSemdyZee 05-28-2017 09:01 AM

I've always been amazed how when Vettel gets out front, he just disappears.
Nice to see Ricciardo on the podium again. Still feel sick when I think how his team blew it last year.

I hear you loud and clear. I have been to several F1 events in Europe but nothing tops Monaco. Make sure to check out he Canadian GP in Montreal. It is an amazing event and always a phenomenal race. Plus your greenbacks will take you much further in Montreal then they would in Monaco.

I wonder what happens to all those Motorhomes?
I think I see new ones of the big teams every season.

If I had millions to spend, I will buy a Ferrari and ask for one of their Motorhomes to journey.

I've been to Montreal every year since 1989 until the hybrids came out. I went the first year with the new power train, was it 2013 or 2014...anyway, call me shallow but without that V10, V12 or even V8 scream it just isn't as exciting. Monza in 2010 was phenomenal with Alonzo winning for Ferrari. So Monza is one bucket list item off.

I fell asleep before his engine blew, but he almost seemed like he was playing with them. His passing ability in F1 obviously carried over to Indy. Kind of upped my opinion of him.

:iagree: With just 23 or so laps left in the race, he was starting to make his move and then BOOM, the engine went. I was just glad to see him lead the race for a while.

Damn I hate watching a race where Hamilton gets pole and starts in the lead. You know it will be an extremely boring race. And it was! Like watching paint dry. Vettel did provide us with some excitement towards the end but something has to change.

There are too many rules and regulations! Let the teams build the cars they want and race! It's not just about a driver championship but also a constructors championship. So let them construct!!

I have to agree. Canada used to always be an exciting race back in the '80s and early '90s. I always sat in the hairpin and there was tons of passing there. Now there is none. It seems like Montreal is only exciting when weather is involved anymore.

I don't know. The most exciting part was at the start when VER was on 3rd row in 5th and went all out wheel to wheel with one car on each side going into turn one. He was in 2nd place out of that turn. After that nothing else was exciting. This kid needs a fast and reliable car so we can all see what he is truly capable of. For now, his hands are tied.

Surprisingly we have the 2 red bulls finished 1-2 after FP2, and hamilton is way back at 7th

looking forward to qualify, i bet it's going to be exciting to see how much the difference is between the result of FP2 and Q3.
