hard to tell...

but I believe red bull will benefit from the new rules the most, since most of the changes are about aero, it's no surprise adrian newey will get the most from the new rules with his talents.

of course, mercedes is still the team to beat, but red bull will be much closer.

also, with the token system being taken down, renault can put full force on developing its engine.

the other team is ferrari, I am not sure how much they will improve, since the departure of james allison, they've been struggle on developing the chassis, plus the engine is also going nowhere, I am more on the conservative side about them.

alcheng 01-10-2017 11:36 AM

lowe-leaves-mercedes-formula-1-team

so... mercedes wants bottas, but they don't need lowe, and williams wants lower cost on the engine.... plus.. bottas is managed by ace-management which, one of the partners is wolff...

although there's rumor saying wolff is leaving ace-management in the future...

however... the director of a f-1 team also have some power on the drivers market... mmm.... conflict of interest...?

since when the drivers market in formula-1 has turned into a political party....

cooltoy 02-07-2017 12:24 AM

Can't wait.

alcheng 03-06-2017 02:03 PM

man... couple more weeks it's the Aussie GP!!

Really, can't wait to see whose gonna be 1st and 2nd on the grid if not the silver cars... :icon17:

on the other hand....

I am very curious will these orange cars be the new Manor.... at least... position on the grid wise...

Watching some testing videos. The new tires are YUGE! Looks like they're driving on pillows

Formula-1 2017...!!

All the aero/tire improvements are supposedly allowing the cars to take corners 40 km/h faster than last year (so I've read). Now that is something that we will notice and hopefully will help bring back some excitement to the series. Now if they could only bring back the manual stick shift........LOL.

alcheng 03-08-2017 06:16 PM

I used to be a McLaren fan, way back to the Prost/Lauda decade.. then Senna/Prost... then Hakkinen... then starting to fade since the Hamilton years....

was excited couples years ago with the Honda....

but this is the 3rd year....

I have the same feeling as their driver.....

Still a McLaren fan. Tough days now but here for the duration.

And in the meantime, a Williams fan.

Agreed. Let's hope it's not TOO interesting. C'mon Lewis!

Cyber370 03-24-2017 05:56 AM

Lewis is the reason I almost stopped watching Formula 1. I won't argue the fact that he's talented. It's just his silver-spoon-fed attitude that ruins it for me. That was especially evident during the 2016 season. So happy to see his team mate take the championship away from him. Nico Rosberg worked his *** off to get it despite Lewis' tantrums.

I know what you're saying. He may have an an attitude, but he's definitely not silver spoon fed. He grew up near me, in Stevenage and went to an average local school. His family were far from wealthy, but his dad was devoted to helping him succeed. He was just lucky to be spotted by Ron Dennis at a very young age.

His obsession with winning is a double-edged sword. It makes him the champion he is and it also makes him the less pleasant character he is when he fails to win.

On balance I really admire him - a self-made champion who didn't have a rich daddy. I'd love him to win a 4th championship because I love the way he drives.

Saw him at Silverstone the day Pirelli gave him that almighty blowout a few years ago. Man did he show some talent & balls to drive though the pack and end up 4th, in a race he would have won, but for the dodgy tyres. His genius is undeniable.

Edit - and Rosberg only won last year because Lewis had more technical problems. On a level playing field, Lewis wins every time. I think most of us would have tantrums if our car kept breaking down.

Thanks to TreeSemdyZee for his correction!

I do agree he is bloody fast and talented.

Just his attitude towards other drivers, his teammate and his team, is annoying.

Quite a few tantrums both ways honestly. I was pretty sick of seeing all of the pissing matches that they were having.

Well, the new look will take a bit getting used to. Those wheels look huge. I am not too sure I like the shark fin. The teams that painted it black look best to me.

chubbs 03-25-2017 01:20 AM

Just watching the first qualifying of the season. The cars look frighteningly quick, but I must say, the Force India colours.... PINK??? ew.

Edit - The colours of the HAAS cars are really nice.

Wow - that was an exciting end to Q3. C'mon Lewis - well done Vettel & Bottas. Hopefully the 'phoney race' between two Mercedes is a thing of the past and we'll have an exciting Mercedes vs Ferrari season ahead of us. With Lewis coming out on top, of course!

alcheng 03-25-2017 02:14 AM

hamilton is on his own league.. again...

squeeze out another 0.2xx from vettel...

bottas is barely sitting in 3rd....

raikkonen... looks like he has some homework to do... lol

We'll see! We'll see! There's no way I'd bet on Hamilton reaching the end of lap 1 in the lead, tomorrow, but there's also no way I'd bet against him ending up top of the podium. It's exciting.

...and don't rule out Bottas. He's a quietly determnined guy.

Agreed! He just needs to work on his attitude and suck up the good and the bad. Things cannot always go his way. He just spoils it for everyone else. as stated, he is definitely talented but I wonder what he would do with a slightly inferior car. The mark of a true champion is being able to pull off wins even when your car is not up to par or at least the same as everyone one else's. I'd love to seem him in an Indycar race. Now that would be a show!

cooltoy 03-25-2017 10:36 AM

The track temperature disadvantaged Ferrari. Would have been closer for poll if it was warmer.

Too bad Ricciardo didn't finish Q3. Top was pretty close Ferrari definitely has a shot, Hamilton will need a good start or Vettel will be all over him.

As Vettel usually is on the starts. What's this new clutch set up they were talking about that will make good starts even harder?

Its software change restricting what the driver does. Now its more driver and less 'setup' etc on the start. More feel and less set.

+1 very gutted for that. I want him on track and beating Verstappen and challenging for wins. Technically they have some sorting to get done.

Finally a race! Was a little surprised at some of the tire choices after the pit stop, would have thought more people staying on the ultra or super softs.
