Did the self tapping screws go into metal? If so might I suggest you remove them, clean the holes and put some touch up paint on them to prevent any future rust issues!

for most cars, the high settings gets you toasty, then cycles on and off as not to roast your bum. the low settings is an always on setting. at least this is how it worked for the last 3 vehicles...
