Agreed

I love primes for the fact that they not only shoot great in low light, but they are tack sharp with a higher f stop. Not to mention the bokeh advantage of the F stop wide open.

I have a Canon 50mm 1.8, Tamron 90mm 2.8 macro and Rokinon 8mm fisheye

Otherwise I'm using my Tamron 17-50mm 2.8 which is just ridiculously sharp for the price point

I'm thinking of getting a 30mm 1.4

The 50mm 1.8 is one of the sharpest lens you can buy considering it's only $99.

many compare the sharpness to the higher end canon 50mm.

Difference being that the 50mm 1.4 from canon has a better bokeh due to the number of blades used in the lens and the construction quality is better. But optically you can't go wrong with the 50mm 1.8

Here are a few photos I had taken with the 50mm when I first got it to give you an idea for sharpness and bokeh
