I think some people use adapters to mount the 50mm backwards to use as a macro lens.

But if you're into macro I'd go for a legit Macro lens
Nice thanks, ill look into macro lenses.. seems to be fun for me. Can i record HD video with one? That could be really cool.

Yea, the video feature on the camera will work with any lens but manual focusing needs to be done as well.

nitex- i take it you like insects?

phelan- im on a nikon D3100 for super-newbs. let me say 3 wks ago, i opened the box and didnt even know how to properly hold the damn thing. hahaha. i had to read the quick-start instructions to see how to mount the lens onto the body. thats where i startedz.

Ken, anything alive is more fun for me to shoot.. Took the new cam to the beach after purchasing the canon 55-250 lens Flower shot was with my canon 50mm fixed though.

Parker, that spider shot is crazy good!

lulz ken, we started photography at the same time

i got the d5100, only b/c the store i was at offered it at basically the same price point as the d3100 as a promo (it was like a hundred bucks more i think).

holy ****...that falcon picture is really, REALLY good NICK (sorry i missed this).

i focused on the knob but should've used a larger f/stop as my stereo is blurred...

hard to tell in the low resolution pic honestly. overall exposure and balance settings look pretty good. maybe up a bit on the recovery so the reflection off of the airbag sign and the knob don't look as bright?

you should use a low f-stop on the gtr start button

woo! thanks for that. i didnt even notice the SRS indicator over exposure. i need to fix that fo sure.
