i mean the cost is around 25-28k with taxes. I can already seen tons of people having the car. They also going to wanting cheap parts.

I agree. I do think once the initial demand is met, this car will be a total flop. If you look at what car shoppers gravitate towards in this country, the V-6 Mustang or Camaro will be way higher on the list than an underpowered "but handles great" Subaru sports car.

Yup. as was mentioned earlier in the thread, they should take a clue from the utter and total failure of the Miata/MX-5 -- Americans do not want a lightweight, good-handling, fun to drive car.

Most of them don't. The MX-5 does very well as the niche car that it is but if there was that big of a market for that kind of car, I would have expected the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky to do a little better.

The Sky and Solstice were not particularly good handling cars with more weight and less power than the BRZ or FRS. If the BRZ/FRS does as well as the MX-5 does in its niche, I think all involved will consider it a success. It is, after all, a niche car itself not Toyota's replacement for the Corolla

This is getting a bit off-topic, but the Solstice/Sky failed because it was a parts bin car. It wasn't a design directive. Bob Lutz just threw GM parts into a roadster. It was less practical than the Miata. With the top down, you had no storage. And it wasn't a significantly better car.

The Miata's sales have slowed over the years, but it has had a long run of success.

That's fine with me if they don't want the car, as long as they make enough for me to get one.

All they haters should get together and come up with a consistent story. So far we have

1. It's too expensive -- for only 5k more you can get a bare-bones 5.0
2. It's too cheap -- every teenager will have one
3. It'll be too popular -- see (2)
3. It's too niche -- no one will want one

Any I missed?
