Since you found it fair to censor any reference to police salary, then its only fair to for you to also censor any reference beyond the original intent of the OP, which is police vehicles vs. the 370Z

To place any individual at higher level than the average man, due to occupation is openly wrong. There are a lot of more hazardous jobs than police or firemen, Any of us could drop dead any day at work, its life. If you did a search at how many ppl die a day at work from simple accidental work place accidents in general each day, I'm sure it would be higher than the single group of police deaths for that given day.

So lets be fair to all specially when censorship is being applied.

Here are the facts in the year 2000, 5915 on the job deaths, of which are 142 police and 43
firemen.

Interesting. I thought the cop cars would be faster. In any case, it doesn't matter if you're driving a Z...or a GT-R for that matter, you're not going to outrun a helicopter.

I've evaded twice (successfully), but it only worked because 1 cop had to u-turn and 1 cop had to enter the highway after radaring from a overpass. And there happened to be a convenient turnoff in both cases, where I was able to make several quick direction changes. Didn't really 'run' in the sense that I didn't speed up or break any traffic laws, just made a bunch of direction changes before the cop could catch up.

The best method is just to do a few legal moves and leave the car if the cop can't find car its no real crime or laws broken.

About 20yrs. ago I was driving thru a mall and did a few rolling stops at the mall's stop signs. I seen a sheriff might be coming after me so I decided it was time to get a car wash around the corner.

I was driving a 80's brown chevy 4x4, with my 75yr. old mom , after about 10 minutes at the car wash we passed the sheriff at the local super market checking the hoods of chevy trucks parked their for heat coming off them. It shows you the extent some will go to try and nail you. The thing is that it really made my moms day and mine for a laugh !!!

Look for police pursuits on youtube helicopter vs motorcycle and the bike won, if your on a hayabusa or zx14r, most copters are limited to around 120-140 mph you really need one of the high end or performance copters to exceed the speed of a superbike or exotic sports car.

One time I ran from the police in my gt500. They had me pinned in on a bridge because of a big car wreck. I lit up the tires and ramped the car over the wreck, got away clean.

Guess it wasn't running from the police so much as driving fast away from the cops, going airborne, then driving fast some more.

We are not advising running from police, but you are only required to stop , when they signal you to pull over.

We are discussing the performance of police vehicles vs, the 370Z potential.

Basically only the police helicopter or camaro or mustang comes close and the Charger, BMW or Kawasaki.

I have seen a few documentaries about police cars and what the various law enforcement agencies look for in a car. From what I can remember, their main concerns are that they can carry around all of their gear while managing to keep sight of the offender and their cars do not fail. Most passenger vehicles will quickly fail if driven to the limit on public roads due to pot holes, speed bumps, debris, curbs etc. So as long as the cops have radios and slightly more rugged vehicles then they have a better chance of outlasting the offenders during high speed chases. Some of those cars that were tested are very respectable given the extra weight of the cars.

You forgot to tell them about outrunning the helicopter because it wasn't an Apache...

What is the top speed of a police helicopter? | ChaCha

Its only the high end or performance military attack helicopters that have the high speed. Most commercial helicopters are not as fast ppl believe.

Where the copters have the real advantage is altitude and ability to take a direct line of flight and keep a ground vehicle in sight, and the ground vehicle is limited by the lengthy roads.
