ZL1 beats new GT500

I realize this is way off topic, but I have a friend who once converted his Toyota Camry from Automatic to Manual Transmission, just to see if he could.

As long as he didnt swap it because he thought it was cooler and he'd save money, since it's far cheaper to just buy one with it already built in 90% of the time .

But doing it just because he wanted to see if he could? Gearhead points.

Lightbulb Zl1

Ford just needs to spend the same resources on handling and an IRS as they did on that amazing engine and the GT500 will not only beat the ZL1 but also match the ZR1! For now, it does not match the ZL1 and I even think the Boss 302 is better; due to its balance.

Your first post is in a muscle car topic on a 370z forum and you drive a Mazda? What were you doing just now?

(No offense meant just curious)

IRS is already slated for the 2015 model. Full ground up rebuild of the 'Stang.

Most of the Mustang GT's I find on lots are autos. It's just a sign of the times. Most drivers don't appreciate the added control and involvement of rowing the gears yourself. It's a shame, because it's really fun and safer imo.
Is definitely safer, i don't know about you but I find it pretty difficult to talk on a cell phone and shifting at the same time so I never do it. You also have to pay more attention to what you are doing. So it's a win win situation except for the fact that people are lazy

The safety issue, imo, is more about subtle things. Your throttle cable snaps (or gas pedal gets stuck). Manual drivers are much more prone to respond in the correct manner and pull the car out of gear, since gear is more often in their mind. Auto drivers? Well, ask Toyota.

Ford itself did say that all new models will be at least 250lbs lighter than the model they replace, so we can take it on good authority that the Mustangs will be getting lighter.

All car manufactures are saying they are going smaller and lighter. Many say V8s will be replaced with turbo 6s and turbo 4s. You can see where money is being spent in engine platforms it's not as much with V8 any more.

Porsche downsized their displacement in all their cars for first time in over a decade this model year. Hearing corvette will be downsized as well.

Already seeing the trend emerge. I think we are seeing last of the true Muscle cars these next few years.
