But will it seal OEM well? Will it leak later on (or that day?)? The trim pieces can be readily had factory painted, so that's no longer a real stresser for me. I am now wondering about the integrity of the adhesive vs. OEM. I know windshields are a load-bearing item, will it do so just as well as it used to?

In a nutshell Safelite breaks allot of sh!t on people cars and deny it,it is typical of them, but once I find out a co.sucks I don't try to figure it out pass that the guys who I have spoke with told me horror story of them accidentally breaking stuff on cust. cars and telling dispatch and they tell him to put the broken stuff back on.
I'll just leave it at that.

Sounds like you have anxiety problems man. You're not the first person who needs a new windshield on a brand new car, you won't be the last. It will probably be fixed with no complications, good as new.

The adhesive should be as good as factory. The important thing, like someone already said, is make sure they wear gloves and don't touch the edges of the glass where the adhesive will contact the glass. It really shouldn't be an issue. They usually use the big suction cups with grips to position the glass.
And make sure they clean out all of the old adhesive before installing the new glass.

Not on my Z, but on two of my other cars. Both were replaced with OEM glass and looked just like they rolled off the line at the factory when done. No leaking, and the rubber seals around the edge of the glass look good.
Definitely follow the donut suggestion, maybe get a bunch of medium coffees with the fixings on the side. The guys in the back will really appreciate it. Makes for a nice start of the day. ![]() Stop stressing, take a deep breath, it will all work out.

Well, this makes me feel better...
Corvette Forum - View Single Post - Anyone gotten your windsheld broken? LOTS! of cracked windshields on the 'vette forum. I guess I just got lucky with mine. I have yet to find a "Safelite screwed my car up" post, so that makes me feel better. |
