I am OCD as well especially about my cars, however I have had to replace a windshield before and I had no issues! Like said above, go to a highend shop even if you have to pay more.. and only be satisfied and pay if everything is 100% perfect

Supposedly this shop does high-end work. They have a 997 TT driving from a city away this week just to get work done. Audi and Porsche don't have a glass guy here, they farm it out to a similar place, probably LA Glass or something. It's not about the name on the door, but the people in the place, from what I am seeing.

Windshield is a main structural component. Replacing it is like bending the frame, and then trying to bend it back. It's never...just...right. So yeah, I finally came to terms with the fact that this is going to be the car I forever hate and ramp over curbs and in general just don't give a **** about because it was ruined from nearly day 1, anyway.

Sucks, as I was hoping to enjoy owning this thing. Mice and men and all that. Now I'm going to be the guy throwing his keys across the hood and hitting **** in the street for sport in a "nice" car because he hates the thing, lol.

Sorry, just trying to find some humor in getting rid of a car that was in great shape and ending up with a junker by a twist of fate.

*or*

Just set it up on blocks, pay it down, take the hit, sell it in a year, forget the whole nightmare and try not to think about the $10K in depreciation. There will be other cool toys, I am sure.

Either way, it sucks, and I feel cheated out of what I was hoping would be an enjoyable ownership. I can see now this windshield thing will just end badly no-matter what most likely. One of those things that make you just HATE a car, like a rattle that won't go away.
Or we could wait and see how the install goes before putting a salvage title on it.

Talk about worrying if everything will work like new after the visit, just wait until you schedule your first colonoscopy

Sounds like you have a great place with really good people. You really can't ask for more than that.

You really should think about taking public transit instead... You're going to die young if you stress out like this about every little thing.

Yeah but then he'd just stress out about the bus not running on schedule.

Oddly, most people on my Father's side of the family are OCD and tend to fixate on things, etc. They also live into their 90's barring accidents. Considering that I tend to approach things very cautiously when my person could be forfeit, I am *likely* to be around to endure my personality disorders for quite some time.

Ironically I have taken the bus 3 times. Once from Louisiana to South Texas, and it broke down and we had no AC. Once from South Texas back to Louisiana, and it went okay. Once the public transit in SHreveport, LA, for a Community Health assignment when I was in clinical. I bailed off of it about 4 miles from my apartment and jogged home when someone reeking of rotten meat got on the bus.

"Sex with a beautiful woman" resulted in Tucker Max's website.

I recently had the windshield in my wifes Altima replaced by Safelite and they did a excellent job. The windshield is tight with no wind noise and everything was done neatly and clean. I feel your stress but think you have nothing to worry about. I did wash the car before I brought it in so that if they leaned up againt the car or brushed up against it which I am sure they did, the dirt on the car would not scratch the paint. So that would be my advice, wash the car before dropping it off for install. On a lighter note, I recently installed the light up sill plates and during install, burned a hole in my carpet with the trouble light and had a fit about that. Cannot see it as it is under the floor mats but I know it is there so it bothers me. I quess we are all a little OCD.

You should probably bring them 4 dozen donuts instead of just one dozen. There might not be enough to go around, and they might do something horrible to your car just to spite you.

Jesus Christ!!!

8 pages to discuss your windshield replacement?

Get it fixed like 99% of normal folks and if you're not HAPPY? Sell it and move on.
