Oh I see. Why would he get those crappy pans anyway? Used to have one of them, but the collection funnel was too narrow and tended to splash. Got one of these instead and never regretted it:

my drain pan is super low tech. i use a triangular one for the main oil (easy to use with a funnel to place old oil back into jug) and a circular one for the filter (larger surface area to catch any wild drips).
