First Details of 2013 GT-R emerge

I hope Nissan's contiuning evolution of this car will allow them to elevate the Z some and open up the bottom end of the market for a new S car.

Maybe even a performance electric. The Nismo Leaf is awesome.

Seeing the OP, this gives Nissan all the opportunity to give the next gen Z a huge increase in power without impeeding on GTR territory. By the time the next gen Z comes out the GTR will have no problem pushing 600+ bhp like previous posts have suggested. So a Z with low-mid 400bhp is extremely possible and the GTR of that time will still have no problem making the Z look like it is standing still in a race. With that said if and only if they make another Z and they throw that 360bhp hybrid in it you will definately be able to say the Z is dead. At this point handling means increased handling over the 370 means nothing if there is not a huge increase in power to go with it, just my opinion. I am just hoping with all the hype that is going to come with these next few years of GTR's does not inflate the price.

your right there is room to grow for the Z..but the biggest issue right now is its already at the borderline of the whole performance to value ratio... and there are other options out there that have better performance in the same price bracket as the 370... that didnt exist when the 350 was first launched... so yeah i would like to see 400 out of the Z and honestly it needs it to compete...but i dont see them doing it without having to bring it upscale in price just a bit and that goes against what the Z has always stood for as i said before its already knocking on the 40K door for a nicely equipped car..... so the Z platform ... its in a weird place right now and seems to be a little stuck...

With that sort of setup you get AWD, instant torque at any speed/rpm, perfect traction control, awesome regenerative brakes, and no shifting necessary at all. They trounce traditional cars in theory, it's just matter of time for the engineering to be perfected and the component prices to come down.
I think it's entire possible to have a Dual clutch transmission in our cars... The VW GTI is cheaper than our car and it has DSG...

Yeah a lot of cars have the dual clutch including the Mitsubishi ralliart. If the g coupe gets the dual clutch the z will too. I would like to see the dual clutch in the next z but I think it may be too noisy to make it into the infiniti line.

As much as I really like the idea of a performance Leaf, considering a base price of almost $28k in conjuntion with giving up the ability to travel long distances and the massive amount of recharge time required to from empty to full, I don't expect a Nismo model to be much more than a showing of what they can do. The wide spread use of the electric car is still very much so a pipe dream in the US with a whole slew of problems needing to be addressed.

I would much rather see Nissan incorporating their hybrid technology into their lineup in a way that doesn't sacrifice to much on the performance end. If only we had better battiers and recharge methods...

once tesla's patent on supercaps in cars either dies or gets licensed, we will see a huge jump in performance of electric cars. Batteries have nothing on supercaps.

Without further derail, I'll just say that electric cars and recharging technology have a symbiotic relationship. When more of them sell, more/better recharging stations emerge, suddenly they're a practical buy. As things stand now, both are lingering/languishing.
