I avoid all car forums like the plague (and generally, if I -do- become part of the "community" I stick to the technical forums).

I'm sure there are exceptions out there (like this one!) but most forums are just nutswingin' all over the place with one or two people who actually know what they are talking about when it comes to any car except X. Of course, a lot of this has to do with no one wanting to admit the new car they just bought is worse off in any way to some car that they view as "inferior."

I'm starting to lurk away from general here, though. There are a billion X vs. 370z threads and they are all a huge joke with nothing of merit said whatsoever.

I like this forum because half the major members don't even own 370's anymore, but still have a pretty balanced viewpoint. Helps keep the haters and fanbois in check.

so how on a scale of 1 - 10, how annoying do you think you are

Red370 11-10-2010 07:36 PM

dayum! not bad for stock tires!

My 2011 5.0 ran 11.9@118 on stock Pirelli's last night - SVTPerformance

m4a1mustang 11-10-2010 07:50 PM

Motherf*cker!!!

I need to get rid of my wheel hop. I'd be running 12.30s now if I wasn't hopping all over the place. That's stout, though! Shifting into 5th there at the end since he's trapping 118.

Red370 11-10-2010 07:59 PM

a few guys that I know around here that race a bit seem to think that getting some sticky rubber and lowering the car should help significantly w/ wheel hop. But yeah, that guy pulling 11's on stockers, must be one hell of a driver.

Yeah, that's what I've been told by many of the pros. Lowering the car alone will almost eliminate it completely.

But yeah, good driving, no wheel hop, and some nice power gains with that CAI, tune, and X-pipe = one bangin' run!

Nitex 11-11-2010 12:15 PM

Oh man, Ive had a thoughts of test driving an 11gt after work today.... I better not lol. Well maybe just to see how different it is from my old '00 gt haha..

Make sure you drive a Brembo car and put it in sport mode. With your foot on the brake, tap the traction control button twice quickly.

This gives you better throttle response, tighter steering, and more aggressive traction control and stability control settings.

Nitex 11-11-2010 12:31 PM

ahhh nice! I'm sure the sales guy will be happy to see i already know how to disengage the safety assists :icon17:

Still havent seen a 5.0 but I did see something muuuch better, this second hand dealership run by immigrants next to the place I always get my lunch and my breakfast got hold of the last model Dodge viper, in those typical viper colors, 8.4 liter V10

I came when I heard it.

I want it

so badly

I am going to offer a trade in and see what they say :roflpuke2:

m4a1mustang 11-16-2010 02:30 PM

Viper is the ultimate "haha my penis is as long as my hood" car. :icon17:

BTW Vegitto, on my Mustang forums I've seen a few posts from some European Mustang owners, but most of them are in the UK or Germany.

Vegitto-kun 11-16-2010 02:39 PM

they are probably all imports

Nitex 11-16-2010 02:45 PM

Yeah no joke, i could go for an ACR.... but for that price i think id rather have the GT-R.

damn. That is all.

Nice. When the next gen comes out I am ditching the manual and getting the dual clutch 7spd.

No, Viper is the ultimate make-the-other-guy jealous car.

Lowering the car hurts weight-transfer. What is happening is pinion-angle is being changed and THAT is what is stopping the hop. Just adjust the pinion angle and leave ride-height alone if the drag-strip is the venue of choice.

I had a friend with a cammed LS2 GTO. It hooked okay until he lowered it a bit. No other changes made, and it wouldn't hook for beans after that on anything but DR's.

Modern so called "Muscle" like the 2011 Mustang GT qualify as sports cars. They aren't just straight line cars anymore when they can compete with M3's.

I do agree to an extent. What I dig about the new Stang is that, depending on how you tune it, you can make it a drag strip nightmare or a corner carver.

I still feel that the Z, S2k's, and Miatas are truer to the "feel" of a sports car. But a Stang can handle with them, that's for sure.

FWIW, you can't even group the S2K and Miata in with the Z. Especially the Miata 1st gen... it's so much lighter it feels totally different.

Sure I can. I just did. Watch, wanna see me do it again? OH, there I go again. What are you gonna do? Stop me? MWAHAHAHAHA

Miatas and S2k's are lighter, sure, but I'm referring more to suspension than anything else. Z's feel small and tight and have vurry responsive suspension. Mustangs can as well, but in the one ride I had in a Stang (some f*cking nutjob drove me around), it just felt bigger.

Now, because I'm a Z fanboy, I'm going to take back the nice things I've said and say that a Stang isn't a sports car because of SRA. There. See what you've done now?

lolol

You're lucky that nutjob didn't drive you to an abandoned industrial park and rape you. :yum:

He kept hinting at how he'd like to "try out the back seat" and how his last car "didn't have such a luxurious back seat" and how I should "smell this chloroform air freshener". I think I was extremely close to just such a thing.

Anyway, I agree that the modern stang is both a capable sports car and muscle car and rape wagon

Vegitto-kun 12-11-2010 01:28 PM

So how is your mustang M4 ohohoho.

today I saw the most badass dodge ram ever.

Viper 8.4 V10 engine swap, supercharged I think(I know it got that or turbos, its boosted in any case)
upgraded suspension, some aero edits. completly redone exhaust.

He floored it at the gas station I always eat at, I came, most beautifull noise ever.

You guys never got the SRT10 truck?
There is a Dodge truck that has the Viper V10 in it from factory here, it sucks horribly.

no mustang, no viper, no ram, no camaro or anything fun and american.

there IS one corvette dealership here but yeah. not plenty of american fun here.

I'd actually class the new mustang and the Z together before I classed the Z with miata's or S2k's. The Z just feels a lot heavier and less connected to the road, and I think the guys at Ford have really caught up with the current stang.

I just drove a Z4 for a few days (not the most recent gen, but the one before it). I was surprised with how much more responsive its suspension and steering was than the Z, and I think it's in that same class with the S2k and Miata. But I still feel more connected in the Z than in the Mustang or Camaro (which is like the Queen Mary, so I can't imagine how a Challenger feels)
