But I still feel more connected in the Z than in the Mustang or Camaro (which is like the Queen Mary, so I can't imagine how a Challenger feels)

Like a truck. It's actually cool feeling if you don't need to handle twisties.

m4a1mustang 02-17-2011 10:06 AM

Challenger is a SWEET cruiser. It actually has some decent skidpad numbers for a car that size but it doesn't really handle transitions too well. But for cruising it is a badass car.

Sibze 02-17-2011 10:44 AM

They might be putting the Viper engine into the Challenger, that would be sick!

They actually have done this before, back in 2008 at SEMA.

But I was just reading that the Drag Pak is going to be released, but for the cost of a GTR. 85k buys you a v10 Challenger, but only if you're one of the lucky 70 that gets your hands on one.

Oh, and it comes with a 2-speed automatic transmission and weighs in at 3200 lbs. This is a drag strip toy and nothing more.

Sibze 02-17-2011 11:02 AM

damnnnn, $$$

Sibze 02-17-2011 11:04 AM

wtf, 2 speed auto???

Racers rejoice. Mopar is dropping a V-10 into the iconic Dodge Challenger.
The new race-only V-10 powered rear-wheel drive 2011 Mopar Challenger V10 Drag Pak features an 8.4-liter 512 cubic-inch engine with a 2-speed automatic transmission. Mopar is showcasing the new 2011 Mopar Challenger V10 Drag Pak at the Viper Owner’s Invitational in Salt Lake City on October 1, 2010. The vehicle will then make its way to the SEMA show in Las Vegas from November 2-5, 2010, and the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) show in Orlando from December 9-11, 2010.

Drag Pak Features:

The first and only 500-plus cubic-inch V-10 drag-race package car
2-speed automatic transmission with shift assembly and built-in roll control
Built for sanctioned NHRA Stock and Super Stock configurations
Complete interior with gauge package
Identification plate and badge with unique serial number sequence
Primed and painted body, color options available
Competition fuel system with fuel cell
Mopar Solid rear axle

Sibze 02-17-2011 11:05 AM

Yeah, most dedicated drag-racing cars use a 2-speed automatic.

I'd put a corvette engine in a 370z if I had the engine.

I think the Mustang's 5 liter has a lot more in common. Similar variable cam setups, etc. Think of Ford's 5 liter as a nissan 3.7 but with 2 more pistons. :D

I don't think of it that way at all. Throw two extra cylinders on the VQ and you don't have anything similar to the 5.0. The 5 is just way too smooth.

Anyways, it's REALLY wide so I doubt it'd work in a Z. It would be cool if it could but an LS is going to fit much, much easier.

FuszNissan 02-17-2011 02:08 PM

Just throw in a RB26 or 2JZ with a single turbo and call it a day.

It's less fun if you call it out beforehand.

ITs not how you race yOur car, it's how you stand by the gun rack in the back.

Lemers, go back to your room. Play with your toys and your costumes. Forget about the forum.

Yeah, my brother has a 5.0 and damn it drives smooth. The ride is also MUCH quieter. The 5.0 is a great car.

I am sure a salesman would have no problem taking you out for a quick ride in the car.

Lemers 02-18-2011 01:56 PM

You drive up in a Z. I'm sure they'll let you drive a mustang.
