Except I have nothing but a Chevy Avalanche, still waiting to pull the trigger on a Z or 5.0

Dude it doesn't matter what you drive. You can come and check out the Zs and my 5.0. One of our regulars drives a Maxima, and one time I rolled up in a Chrysler Pacifica... any and all car guys (and gals) are welcome!

Man this thread is really making me consider the Mustang, something I thought would never happen. It has always been between the Camaro and the Z for the past year in terms of my next car purchase. Now I have a 3 car stalemate, I really need to go out and test them all an see what I can realistically afford.

I am in the same boat, except I just test drove a Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track, while not as fast as the 5.0 it does have a much nicer interior

cptspeed 10-03-2010 10:44 AM

Just bought a 92 notch. Lots of work done. For the price of a supercharger+install on a Z, I have a whole other car that should be about 400 at the crank. Can't wait to get my tags.

Yea considered the Genesis as well but It's just not as exiting as the other cars I mentioned imo.

Don't worry, Red. I still think your car is gayer than the Hyundai.

yeah, the evolution performance all engine BEAST.

m4a1mustang 10-05-2010 08:20 AM

The Evo performance Mustang is beast. That looks like it did some damage, though! Time for a wheelie bar. :icon17:

Yeah I'm sure the driver was sore the day after. That's a pretty hard hit.

According to Evo, it only blew out a shock and dented the oil pan, both easy fixes, crazy though for how hard that thing hit, and yes, time for a wheelie bar

m4a1mustang 10-05-2010 09:50 AM

Wow they got away very lucky then!

No telling what was stressed, and will break later though.

Going up in a hard wheelie can be terrifying. You really hope the rear tires are
Properly inflated and all that....

well, they are a professional shop, so one would assume they have plenty cashola and mechanics experience to fix whatever issues may arise down the road, I think they also had to replace the engine mounts as well. But yeah, you'd think they'd have a wheelie bar on a car that runs 10's...

Sure they can afford to fix it-- it's just unnecessary expense-- in terms of cash, as well as time and stress. Especially if stressed items start going bad close to a major event or whatever. It's just an avoidable issue...

That said, I ran no wheelie bar on my S, and that f'er ran 9's...

m4a1mustang 10-12-2010 08:25 AM

So I installed my axle-backs last night and the sound is awesome. I'll try to get some video tonight.

I'm sure the new BOSS 302 will be a COMPLETELY different animal and probably put the Z to shame, but even though we lack almost 100hp to the GT the Z is still awesome in it's own right.

The GT doesn't match the feel of the Z in any respect... it's not a sports car, plain and simple. If you want the sports car feel... Z all the way. If you want muscle with lots of room to improve... GT for sure.

My problem is I want them both and at this time I can't have them both... and as diehard a Ford guy I am I don't know if I'm willing to part with the Z so I can get into the GT.

But damn I hate the VQ... I want more power.

buy a vette sports car feel with the power and mind of a muscle car ultimate man's car hands down

The Corvette just isn't my kind of car. Maybe when I turn 45 I'll check one out. ;)
