The engine was great, but thrown into a subpar chassis and a shytbox transmission. I dont think id like driving a q in the long term like i loved the Z. Nissan has become good at fluff

Im 4.5 months into my purchase...

It took me a bit not to curb this car under performance maneuvers. I damaged the right front slightly curbing it under performance oriented driving. But i can say the car has felt smaller than it is in transitions. Its the width part that takes a lot of getting used to in sudden 90 degree turns. Overall visibity i can say you get used to it like a Z.

Now that im confident in my Camaro 2SS i think its shockingly amazing. It took a lil time for me to be as confident as in my Z but now that i am its ridiculously fun. I decided to keep it stock till i mastered driving it. No need in doing things without knowing how the car drives. Im 6000 miles in now and feel very comfortable with it.

Its acceleration is mindblowing. As much as the ZL1 seems mindblowingly fun. I feel great that i can push my car to its limits and still average 15.6mpg. Its crazy to get upto 150 so quickly and still have a lot of power left.
Every hard corner ive ever hit in my Z i hit it with equal skill in my camaro with more shove coming out of a corner abd a stronger dart forward.

COMPETITIVE Mode

Theres no traction on take offs n a smidge in corners. Just enough for split second saves. People dont crash in Chevys like in mustangs because theres a stroke of genius behind stabilitrack. In track and sport mode you still get lots of fun in the car. Its rare when you feel the traction intruding. Touring is much more TC but you will stiil break the tires screaching if you stomp on it.
Snow ice. If youre a stickler for safety and fuel efficiency. You can even use this mode in regular weather. The versatility while remaining sport oriented is pretty amazing.

I dont use launch control cuz its so much more fun smoking the tires. Its hard to believe this 3700lb car feels so nimble. It has never truly felt front heavy to me compared to the Z. Its a marvel in engineering. I cant speak good enough on GM's performance effort.
When i think of my Z, i still think about its perfectly small size and feeling more connected to the machine itself. Seating position and the 2 seat layout aid that greatly. But when it comes to feeling connected to the road. I would say both are equally capable.

Despite whatever people say about the cramped camaro interior. Its usability is very high for my needs. But you wont be bringing home tv's in it. From groceries to vday flowers for fam n gf etc... It does the job. Plenty of luggage and golf space.

The ricers...

Theyre learning hard lessons when they wanna show out. Lol.

I cant speak good enough about my camaro. My interior plastics arent as good as the Z buuut leagues better than ford or challenger. I checked them out at the auto show. The challenger was horrendous inside. Mustang was a lil behind but with a better layout than the two cuz the stang feels easier to look out of etc... The competitors both are equally beautiful on the outside in my opiniin, but Challenger paint rocks. Seriously. What they lose on interior, they gain in paint.

What needs improvement performance wise?
At launch, the camaro front bounces up pretty hard. We need to hunker this bitch down with suspension tweaking.

The stock body rigidity is unreal for a car in its price range with no real body bracing. This car is more rigid than a Nismo. So Nissan needs a new chassis or needs a new chassis. The FM is outdated. The alpha chassis feels like it belongs in the $100k world.

All this said. All these cars have individual personalities and all the ones mentioned are injecting raw performance with a relatively low entry price.

And while Nissan has fallen behind. I think in its purity. The Z is not outdated. Nissan just fails to provide what the others keep up with.

When i use the tech in my car, i dont understand why those type of upgrades arent happening as good as Nissan could.
But yet im happy for simple things like an old fashioned e brake. Which you cant get in a camaro.

Ive delayed my Nismo purchase. As the supra comes to fruition im thinking. Im entertained enough to wait and see if Toyota can steal my heart from Nissan? Or will i put a Nismo next to the Camaro. Her name is Darlene, by the way. And my Z was Zenobia.

And it's only for around $120K.......I'd stick with the 2S and a supercharger......without AWD it'd be hard to put that power to the ground.

Slightly OT but saw a vid of TT A8 with launch contol and it's AWD and it had incredible take offs from stand still.

LC in my car is boring. Each launch is perfect. Nothing to modulate except shift timing. I like regular launch. My tires smoke, i modulate the power and gotta keep the car from bolting to the left. Way more entertaining than LC.

I figured for enthusiasts sake I'd do a small write up on my Camaro. I'm 9 months in... 9,500 miles. I roasted the stock eagle F1 runflat tires.

The run flat review.

The bad... They ride hard, are not smooth and add road noise. They lasted 9 months, but I was semi abusive to them. That's said I was able to get 14,000 miles on the stock Bridgestone on the Z. Still a bad comparison cuz I'm putting an extra 170lbs of torque on the rear wheels. The F1's would burn out for no reason. Which was fun, but im sure was kinda the reason they didn't last long.
F1 tires need time to warm up to be functional. So early romps in the ride soon after take off not recommended
They're expensive as he'll. 4 tires would've cost me $1,800. Not worth the price at all vs the replacements. Michelin PSS tires. Having tried the Ps4, I didn't feel a performance difference from the PSS. So I saved $100 and these are the camaro's new shoes.

The Michelin Pilot sport review 500 miles...

They are awesome. It feels great being off run flats. That design alone is the Eagle F1's major flaw.
The PSS is a serious tire on the camaro. It's 3x harder for the rear tires to break loose. The tires feel amazing. I launch harder, stop faster, corner harder and ride smoother!!! GRIP for days. It keeps my 460hp car in check. I guess on a ZL1, which PSS is the stock tire... I imagine these tires burning out easy on the ZL1. I guess the tires are different on each car is to maintain that skiddy tire chirping that I've now reduce 70%. PSS was the missing link to perfect handling.

The camaro

With new tires, it's driving characteristics are amazing. It feels like a German sports car. The agility for its size defies logic. This is the most enthusiast car of the muscle cars. It is very corvette-like in track mode.

Soon I will be adding 1le suspension components. It's crazy that this car gets better.

Believe it or not. People come up to me a lot. They wanna know if the Big boy is under the hood. I just rev it up as an answer. Lol. This is what I've always wished for in terms of performance. From the performance side. It drives like a 80k cat

Does it make me not miss my Z?
The Camaro gives you visceral senses that lack in the Z and vice versa. As an enthusiast, i dont like one over the other. They both serve different purposes in stimulating your senses, and neither can be a replacement for another

I guess it was better a few months ago. But aren't they discontinuing for the PS4 (or am I mistaken)?

Looking good!

The Camaro Zl1 comes with the PSS so I'm not sure they're discontinued. Last I heard they were on severe backorder and hard to come by.

The PS4S are a lol better in the wet and get a longer tread life.

This is exactly what I'm buying eventually, but my heart is set on a Black ZL-1 (with a clear bra on the entire car).

Glad you skipped the Q50-60 game, to me those just seem like $20k in depreciation in 18 months... no thanks! I think nissan is aware that the transmission plus the turbo is a liability, so they purposefully detuned the shifts to save clutch packs

Nice Tire Choice! Absolutely no substitute to the PSS / PS4's, first car tire I've owned that actually has impressed me!

How is the paint "quality" compared to Nissan? Orange peel? I do wish we had the option to simply pay extra to own vehicles without orange peel + a thicker paint. It should be a simple check box on every vehicle when ordering. Gimme showcar paint for an extra $3k.

Thankfully no orange peel on my car. When I test drove the Giulia I was shocked to see massive orange peel on a Masreati gran turismo. Orange peel on a $125,000 car. This is why they don't sell, among other things .

I'm at 11,600 miles. Have the 1le suspension in a box. Saving for custom 305/325 wheels. Will go NA mods for a target for a target 500RWHP.

As of now I can honestly say this car is amazing. There's a learning curve to the width and visibility. But I find the visibility just as bad as a Z in the 6th gen. Which isn't that bad. Width is The bigger challenge. The 5th gen was more awkward to drive.
Reviewers talk about the camaro v6 is the better handler as it is not front heavy. But I don't feel the v8 front heavy at all. The car rotates in the corners properly and control is second to none. Honestly, this car once you acclimate yourself to the dimensions, becomes more capable than a Z by far. I'm sure the v6 feels better balanced though. 3450 vs 3700lbs.

The advantage of a Z is the 2nd you get in it. It's instantly confidence inspiring like a Porsche would be. Not to mention it's uber driver focused cockpit. The Z just feels right. In the long run, This camaro ends up being more rewarding if you track etc... cuz it takes months before you really master driving it. It's like taming a wild horse, then riding It like she's supposed to... It took me 8 months to take corners and exceed at rates of speed that I take in a Z. The Z will make you a Pro fast. It's amazing... the camaro, you have to force yourself to be that good. It will intimidate you in certain instances.

With various modes, like track, competitive, and all traction off, you will be driving at different skill levels over a long period of time.

The transmission in full throttle is DCT fast. But slows down shifts tremendously in normal driving. In ambient weather the torque will toss you around your seat. Thinking about ZL1 seats but I really wanna keep the ventilators. They're amazing.

Getting to 150mph is effortless.... In the Z you'd probably hit 125 in the same amount of time. You definitely feel German like handling as well. It's not an exaggeration. But if you're not an all out professional driver. It will take some time to get everything out of it. The SS with MRC is mind bogglingly amazing. I'm perplexed. I drive it and wonder... How did Chevy do it? It's nearly a marvel of engineering. Steering tuning is better than the early rendition of the corvette. Chevy somehow tuned feedback right into the Chevy steering wheel. So it's giving you the feedback through the tires you need. But still more muted than a Z. The Z steering won't be outdone in feedback. I keep my steering in track mode. Many reviewers claim track mode is way too heavy n they choose sport. In the end... I feel the best handling comes out of the track mode steering. Lift weights if it's too heavy? Lol.

Had a track day recently and realized as amazing as the MRC suspension is. As precise as you will hit the apex's. There's a movement in mid corner that needs to go. It's hard to explain it but it feels unsettling though the car is doing what it's supposed to. I'm 99.9% sure that the 1le suspension and tires will eradicate that feeling and make me discover more flaws I don't notice.

There's nothing like a small powerful great handling sub3500lb 2 seater. Even better sub 3000lb.

But the camaro gives you an unexpected driving experience. You're driving totally close the 6 figure arena. The only car that's been able to show me out is a GTR. I wonder what would happen if I had a ZL1? The GTR was faster, but didn't quite shake me either. I remained a few car length behind but he didn't disappear. I think my goal of 500RWHP will be a nice happy median between my car now and a ZL1.

Camaro and corvette. They're kings right now in their price ranges. Though interior quality needs improvement. I think $47,000 is a bargain if you ignore the civilian demands and focus on the enthusiasts desires. Even still The camaro interior is acceptable. You features surpassing many entry level luxury products. So it's no slouch there... The camaro behind the wheel keeps getting better. And there's always something new in how it rewards you.

The more I drive it. The more I think of upgrading to a grand sport. I'm not sure how long muscle will remain this legendary? I hope it keeps getting better. It's about time!!!!
