Yup and Mazda too. We need the Rx car back.

Other than the cooling ducts for the brakes and the drop, that looks about right to me. Here's hoping

Also, here's hoping for tuning options other than throwing the factory ECU in the trash :icon14:

Just another video of the test mule. You can see how much camo paneling they have on the hood at the end of the clip:

I think that Toyota is closer to the new SUPRA than Nissan is with the new Z35.

Here's some crappy interior shots. It's still covered in camo but you see some things.

If they go auto? It better be BMW's DCT!

b15 06-07-2017 11:08 AM

rear looks like a taller, fatter 86/BRZ

OptionZero 06-07-2017 11:21 AM

the A/B/C pillar is a total Z34 clone! Except the trunk flattens out into an integrated ducktail. Is that sort of like a Z4 transition from the trunk to the rear shoulders?

As long as it shifts fast and performs well I've got no complaints.

Just saw a brand new Lexus LC500...The thing looks awesome! If the Supra looks as good as it and the RC and is lighter (and less luxurious), Toyota will have my money!

I was just perusing that on the Interwebz myself. Freakin' sechs.

It was Nightfall Mica. I thought the cut-in rocker panel would look weird, but it looked sexy and racy. I dig the looks of the IS as well.

There are a lot of people that think the RC styling is awful though

however, IM not one of those people, I agree with your post!

I think the RC is fat and boring.
I think the LC is that pretty fat girl, that you'd wife if she lost 30% of her weight.

The supra needs to be waaaaay better than both.

There's no recent Toyota, Lexus included, that I find attractive. I like where Infiniti's going with the Q car exterior though.

The swirly wrap thing is going on over a year. It's like the Camaro 5 & Volt concept all over again. How tedious was that?

And when the top version comes out and gets all the praise about 335hp I bet they compare it to a base model z34 :ugh2: then proceed to say how "dated" the Z and VQ platform is :rofl2:

BlackZeda 08-10-2017 01:00 PM

By all means, believe everything you read on the internet.

Regardless I find it entertaining that people on a forum devoted to a sports car, who many probably own the said sports car don't understand the concept of a sports car. By all means, fixate on a HP number that someone pulled out of their *** and base conclusions on that.

Seeing the real head and tail lights reveals just how well they have camouflaged it. It is like a supermodel with a burka on...I want to see what is underneath so badly!

Careful what you wish for - just because someone on a website SAID she's a supermodel, doesn't mean you REALLY want to look under that burqa!

OK, go ahead, but I warned you.... :rofl2:

Well, if they manage to get 335HP out of a tuned SC or turbo 4 on this one, and the car weighs 500 lbs less than the 370Z, then they may still have something to talk about. I can dream, can't I???

I mean, the z34 and VQ are dated....

Still somewhat competitive but ancient by car standards now a days

Just because something is newer and more technical doesn't mean it's better than something 'dated'. Best examples are the A-10A and B-52H.

Good point! I think it is safe to assume that whatever is under the camo is a toned down, less concepty FT-1 body. But, with that being said, I love the proportions and the fact that there are no +2 seats (it reminds me of another Japanese sports car that we all love). I am not sure what to think about IF they only offer in an automatic, but as already mentioned, if it is a DCT I would be Ok with that if they offer a manual shift paddle mode.

For comparison sake, the M2 has 365HP and 343LbFt and is 3450Lbs and from what I hear is the best M car that is offered currently. If Toyota/BMW can reduce that weight to below 3000Lbs (the 86 is 2754Lbs) that would be fantastic even with "lowly" turbo 335HP.

As far as a hybrid AWD option, the Prius is 3000Lbs even with those heavy batteries. Not a true sports car, but neither is the GTR.

Yes, that's exactly what it means. The Z is based on an old chassis and is powered by an engine that doesn't utilize any of the newest technologies available today. It is certainly dated, by car standards but it is also remains pretty competitive and offers a great driving experience.

So this shyt is getting the normal bimmer engines. Hopefully this car will be 3,000lbs n then it might be something special? Otherwise, it will be a lower slung 3 series.
Whomp whomp whomp whommmp!

Hard top Z4 with a body kit. What a disappointment.

Unless they're keeping some stuff a serious secret, I don't see much of anything enticing here. I've never had high hopes for this car, and this is why. The Japanese carmakers are lacking imagination and courage to do something truly exceptional these days.

carlitos_370z 08-15-2017 06:11 AM

What happen with the Japanese Manufacturers of the good old days:shakes head: Mazda RX-7's, Nissan Silvia, the real Toyota Supra, Nissan Z... we need those days back... Not this sh!t...

Stright_Drop 08-15-2017 07:29 AM

This is just gonna be the faster 86 everybody wanted with a lil bit more room with yet another engine from a different company. You can utilize all of the newest technologies available today but realistically speaking the only thing the new Supra sounds like it will have over the Z34 is adjustable dampening and ecu. Not saying its a bad thing but it took Toyota what 4+ years to come up with 335-400hp BMW that looks like a Z34/86?

BlackZeda 08-15-2017 08:52 AM

OMG, seriously, do you guys believe everything you read on the internet?
