FPenvy I'll be at Cars n' Coffee Saturday morning. Taking the bike (blue gixxer). I'll be wearing a white jacket and have a female also wearing a white jacket (unless we take them off :p ). Should be there from 9 until about 10:30 or so. Hopefully we can meet up there if you are going still.

Yeah FP, keep us posted how the Tesla response compares to an electric golf cart! ;)

Your Z looks great. Did you install your exhaust yourself?? |
FPenvy (trying to avoid your real name since some people are very particular about that), you said you and your dad have a car paint setup?? Thinking about possibly getting my gf's car painted as a surprise for her bday. You guys think you could do something like that??
|
Quote:
yes i did my own exhaust with the help of a friends lift. sadly mufflers went back on since i need to get inspected soon. :shakes head: Quote:
i said the only thing we really dont do is paint and body work lol. that stuff we sub out. my dad used to 25 years ago and hastn since so we just got people for that now. |
FP. How was the Tesla ride? Also what's the deal with this plasti dip bodywork? I saw a GTR a few weeks ago and I'm indecisive about it. Looks like a stone chip would peel the paint/skin of it?

Damn I knew you said something about paint and bodywork. Clearly I missed the most important part of that sentence :shakes head: Any recommendations on shops to do a full body custom paint job?? Vinyl wrapping was much more expensive than I had initially planned on but I'm starting to think that I may do it myself because that seems to be the cheapest of all options haha |

started out and first thing the girl tells me was "punch it!" she regretted that decision lol i tried maxing that bitch out in the first 10 seconds of being in it. the test ride also sold my pops on wanting to get my mom the tesla suv next year when it releases lol |

but cat back part of the exhaust is pretty simple to do. removing the cats is a bitch. good ole demon bolts lol i never really looked into paint shops locally for custom work. i know my friend out by carlisle PA just vinyl wrapped his whole car on his own and it looks good. so thats def possible. then again he also built his own single turbo kit so he's pretty crafty lol |

That's the only way to do a test ride. Yeah the one guy I know that had to drive one for a weekend for work said that it was a blast to drive which was unexpected. Maybe I'll win the 24 hour Tesla experience and whip that bish around Quote:
I was actually thinking about doing the vinyl wrap myself for her. Maybe give her the present now since doing it in December would suck to do |

yea if you just got a cat-back set-up coming in then you should be fine with just jack stands. i put my mufflers back on the other day with just jack stands and it took longer to get it set-up then the switch needed. i didnt use a torque wrench on mine just a normal wrench/socket and went til it was tight. after the first 100 or so miles after my initial installation i went back under and checked the bolts. |

From the DIYs I've seen it looks like I should only need about 2 sockets (I think 14mm and 10mm) and some stands as well as some wd-40 if I have some really stuck on bolts, but other than that shouldn't really be anything else. |
Quote:
yes wd-40 would be ideal especially if you have some miles and corrosion on the car. when i did my exhaust i had maybe 3k miles on the car. so things were still pretty new and clean lol |

Still don't have my exhaust damn you FedEx. Was supposed to be sent to an office for me to pick up last night and they never sent it out *sigh*. Hopefully I'll have it today.
F, you think 2 jack stands should be enough or do I need to get the whole car up (aka 4 stands) |
Also F, were you at ZDayZ 14?? Was looking through the site and saw someone with an 09 Z coming from Pittsburgh
|
Quote:
Ummm id have to say 4 would be ideal. Not 100% since I did mine on a lift. But if I didn't I would think having the whole car in the air would be better to drop it all at once. And also to put the new one on with plenty of space to work on it. |

Yup! Was there last year and this year. Already got my cabin booked for next year as well lol there's a video of me at the exhaust comp there on my YouTube page as well lol |
