2. The tires are brand new, it will take about 500mi to get the slick coating off, then you'll be to the real meat of the tread. 3. Maybe double check the alignment?? |
They are at 35, going to try 38 see if I can firm up the side walls. I know they need broke in, but its feels like slop in the sidewalls...I doubt breaking in the tires will firm up the sidewall...The alignment was good before, we ran out on time to get it on the rack we closed at 5 tonight, I am gonna get in on the rack tomorrow. Ill give it a few hundred miles, if not better I will have a GREAT deal on some tires for someone here because I will go back to stock sizes... I need that quick firm go cart response, I was afraid this might happen, but I searched the forums for days before pulling the trigger.

I dont think its the tire, but with the smaller tire size they are slightly stretched, create a really firm sidewall for a really tight response, by going wider, you lose this a bit, which I was aware of, and why I did my reseach first on the size and no real complaints of this, Ill give it some time and see what happens, I know they are amazing tires, and I cannot believe everyone on this forum is wrong, many have gone 275/305, I went smaller than that on purpose. Time will tell, even not broken in, the tail of the car is most definitely in check!

As for the drags bring whoever u want I think I got 3 or 4 wanting to roll down with me. The gtr also has the fastest stock time on gtr life.com haha just realized that and he just added full intake exhaust and e85 so it's gonna be a monster. Hoping the LFA rolls too even just to look at more. It is beautiful in person. |
I have a total of 3 right now, first time coming down, what time should I get there? Do I need to bring anything?

gates open at 11:30 AM they do a drivers meeting around 1PM mostly for new people but all they really say is a long winded explanation of how things run there. when i roll alone i usually dont get there til 1:30 but with people interested in going as well i have no problem rolling down earlier. simply it is you go up to the staging lanes as a pair if you're running someone then once the starter sends you then you drive around to the line and run. if you have no one specific to run and want to race there is a singles lane. pretty much standard stuff lol there is a burnout pit with water if you need it (i usually drive around as best i can) then they added last year a very nice launch pad (much better than the plain runway). line up where the guys runnin the line tell you to stop. wait for the LED bar to light up and GO lol there is a red/blue finish/win light tree at the end. very visible in a rear view mirror to see if you won or not. as of now i think i got 2 pgh C&C guys coming maybe a 3rd but its a last minute thing for them. hopefully get the GTR monster there and possibly the LFA lol where are you coming from? and what time would you like to head down there? once i get firm yes's from these other guys close to me and see if they wanna roll down together i'll have a better idea on that time frame as well. i will know more tomorrow when i see them all at the PGH C&C in the morning. most i talked to already said they have a few things to do or whatever and will just be meeting me at the races. |
sweet, not sure what time we will leave, about an hour drive for us...I will have a civic si with me...and Shane finally got his neon on the road, but he cant race it, it needs tuned and he is breaking in the freshly build and balanced motor...will be running 25 psi and 500+ wheel horse...its crazy.
Still on the fence about the tires, they are probably livable but there is tire roll in the corners, no doubt. Unless someone local would want these, I will probably live with it for this year, I would mount and balance them on a car for 1100 bucks if anyone is interested haha. |

that is one hell of a run-on. I saw a gun metallic nismo(I think, I was passing it by at a gas station) in Latrobe 2 nights ago, and passed a MB at the Slate Run road intersection today in Gburg. |

Well didn't make it down, the civic that was coming decided to no longer wanted to run after it was re flashed last night...did not want to take a re flash, flipping hondas. I have also put in a case with Michelin, if they will not swap these out under the Michelin promise plan I am going to sell them, so if anyone local wants them I will sell them at a slight loss, and I can mount and blaance them for free if you come to my shop in Greensburg. They are the Pilot Super Sports 265/35/19 and 295/30/19.

Tire rack agreed to swap the tires out...Hope this does the trick...if not all you pss guys are smoking crack! Wondering if my suspension setup is a culprit as well...the konis made this thing like a go cart...then the tires messed it all up!
They canceled test n, tune...pens game it is! :-) |
I love my tires I think u just got a bad set. Every other person with them loves em so I don't think we are on crack lol
Anyways go pens!!!!! |
I think they are good tires, not saying they are not, I will make a final judgement when I get the narrower tires. If they were on anything else they would be great, it just seems that most people accept the little but of tire roll at these sizes and neglect it, if the car was boosted and I "needed" this size tire I would dismiss it...however at this power level, my car needs to be a handling machine, and the swifts and konis do that...these tires compromised that a bit, which at this time is not acceptable. I am excited to see how the stock sizes perform!

I had PSSs on my car when I first got it and couldn't stand them. Going from Star Specs on my M3 and RSX-S, it was a step backward in grip and response. I thought the PSS were just not as aggressive as I wanted. I think they are more of a touring tire that can be sporty, than a sporty tire you can drive on the street.
I don't think the size is the problem so much. The extra slop could be dialed away with some PSI. When I autox, I need stiff sidewalls and usually go 43 to 46 psi actually. 38 is way too low to me. |

I will say this though, the PSS were great in the rain and very quiet comparatively.

Ok the verdict is in, I got the stock sized pss on, and yes, the size was 90% of the problem. The steering response still is crap on these tires...I honest cannot understand how people on these forums bashed the stock tires so much, they had better steering response and stiffer sidewalls, and the re50a is not regarded by the people as a good tire...and mine were dry rotting away, that's why I changed them! ANYWAY, I am much happier now, the car does no roll like a boat at sea in corners now, and is acceptable. Will I ever buy pss again, not at this price point, IMO they perform in the 700-800 dollar range, the KDWs on my 350 are similar to these in handling and grip, makes me wonder about the new BFG, might have saved 400 bucks...if I changed these out again, I would do this, 255/35/19 F and 285/30/19 R, this will go a tad wider but keep the sides short, yet shorter than stock, but it should help with steering response. Michelin has everyone brain washed, sorry guys, I agree 100% with Honesty, and I am running these at 40 PSI now, I want to back them off to 38 and see if that is ok. Keep in mine I still have to break these in, ram around for about 50 miles after work tonight they are still a tad slippy yet.
