Hmm I'll have to take a look and see. Gotta see what my situation is with the bike before I make any decisions.

Cost??

Flybygti were you in Ambridge today with your Z?

ZeeZee 07-19-2014 12:50 PM

Hey FP, thought I'd share a pic I took earlier this week. We drove up to the Finger Lakes and came across Hector Falls right by the road. I couldn't resist the photo op! :)

Haha. I laughed at the description. Only if the driver's side wasn't such a pain in my *** :shakes head:

I'll probably leave it how it is through the winter then adjust it when I pick up ART pipes since I have to get the car up again... or maybe I'll stop at an exhaust shop or dealership since I just need them to get the tips to line up

yea as long as it's not bouncing/loose and making bad noises i think you'll be ok.

Nah I fixed that problem. For some reason sometimes they sit low and vibrate off the cross member. Spaced that out the next day and that fixed that issue. My theory is that I'm not looking at the back end when I'm driving so it isn't really bothering me a whole lot, especially when I know it will be off again.

I am researching to see if ART pipes would pass emissions in different counties (other than Allegheny)

Hmmm if said guy can pass me living in Allegheny (unless I wind up moving which is a strong possibility) then I'll probably pick some up over the winter.

not sure how it works since it's technically "state inspection" if you can get inspected in a different county than your residence. hmmmm

Who knows. I have technically have until June to figure it out (by legal standards) but who's to say I won't avoid getting it done for a few months if I know I'm gonna move.

Now I'm trying to figure out if I'd rather do HFC or ART Pipes OR TP or LTH. Gotta weigh the costs vs the gains. You being straight piped doesn't help me with asking that to you :bowrofl:

Hmmmmm. I feel like to do headers I'd need a mechanic friend with a lift... not sure I wanna do headers in my lot on ramps and stands. That was kinda a pain in the ***

yea i'm happy with just TP's. i would do headers if they werent so much more money. my TP's were $275. LTH's are 1200

Which is a lot of the reason that I'm kinda hesitant. I just read semtex's review and it's definitely positive. Here's his input on the dyno graphs
Quote:

As you can see, I lost peak power (the green line is my baseline, the red line is the new one from this morning). My peak dropped from 322.2whp to 316.8whp.

However, before anyone gets their undies in a knot, take a close look at the graph. I lost power only at the very top starting at around 7300rpm. I either matched or gained everywhere else; there were no losses anywhere else in the powerband. In fact, from 2800-4000rpm, then again from 4600-6700rpm, I gained both power and torque. Also, notice the unit scale of the graph -- even though the lines look pretty close together, it's kinda misleading because of how the graph moves up in such tight increments. In my opinion, this is a positive result. I gained power where it's actually usable. If it's at the expense of a few hp from 7300rpm up, fine with me. I hardly take it all the way to redline anyway, and even when I do it's just for a brief moment before I shift up to the next gear. Indeed, the dyno results confirm what I've been feeling through the seat of my pants (or "in the butt" as Sharif put it to me this morning, lol). I made a point of putting a good 140 miles on before doing the dyno because I wanted to make sure the ECU had a good chance to adapt.
Is all that really worth $1200 and the potential fines... probably not as of now.

So I guess it's down to HFC, TP or ART Pipes. Hmmmm decisions decisions

yea i mean if they were a little less money i would have LTH's over my TP's to be honest but cost/power ratios and also easy of installation all went to the TP's

I think I may go with resonated F.I. TP and mat that to the ARK exhaust

I'm rethinking it. If I can find a set of used ART pipes I'll probably pull the trigger sooner rather than later.

I'd like to hear the non-res ones. I just don't want it to be obnoxiously loud... all the time

Seems like there's power gains with the ART pipes of TP

I mean I sometimes take 18 home because my normal path gets boring after so much travel. I can always drive home that way one day this week.
