Rust like that is very common on majority of the vehicles produced...be it from Nissan, Dodge, Toyota, etc.

The leak you are seeing is probably SOME diff fluid, but it doesn't take a lot to make a stain like that on the casing. Stick to you normal service intervals and you should not have any problems. Might want to mention it the next time you have it at the dealership...might get some free labor out of them.
