Default Can't find a Z anywhere... (with the right options)

I'm looking to buy a Z, Touring with Sport Package + Navigation. Even though I'm flexible on colors (mainly because I'm still undecided after weeks of agonizing over it) it seems nearly impossible to find one. I used Nissan's site to search the inventory -- checked within 100 miles of here (West Virginia) and none have what I'm looking for. Expanded it to 300-mile radius and only found a 2010 model. Checked the area around Chicago, since I'll be by there soon, and there's none there either. Wow :/

Unfortunately their site won't let you limit the results to cars that have certain options.

I asked the dealership here and they said they can do an exchange with another dealership, but they only like to go within 300 miles. I offered to pay extra and they said they may go a little further. They said ordering one for me would take 12 weeks.

Any suggestions? I'm looking for an Auto, either Brilliant Silver, White, or Blue. Flexible on interior colors. It just sucks that there's NO blue ones around to see in person, and none with Persimmon interior to see either.

Does their 12-week estimate seem accurate? I really don't want to wait anywhere near that long haha

Their 12-week estimate seems normal but then after the tsunami hit Japan no one really knows...

I was having a lot of trouble finding a helpful dealer in southern New York. I didn't see any new coupes in person -- only a few leftover roadsters. The few I saw in online inventories were either Black Cherry (no thanks) or not even close to the options I wanted. I literally sat down online and searched through all 111 dealers within 400 miles.

Finally the 4th dealership I walked into was very helpful and had my Z ordered in under an hour at just a hair over invoice. I might have been lucky because they were able to claim an unallocated car that just recently got into port an hour away. Admittedly, I might have been treated better than usual because I was referred to the dealership manager by a prior colleague of his. But honestly, it couldn't have been easier for them to search the area: plug in the options and a radius.

I had to give up on blue and got my second choice instead, gun metallic. I recommend going to a dealership ready to buy and have your salesperson search the area. If they won't search, try to get a hold of the manager. It really is quick and painless for them to do. I feel the majority of them are just lazy or want to make you wait for who knows what reason. Good luck!

Thanks geetee.

Has anyone gone the route of having the dealer find one far away and bring it in? I'm not sure just how far they'll go. Also I'm slightly concerned about having them drive 300+ miles because from what I've read about break-in periods, it's mostly BS except that the first 50-100 miles does really matter, and steady speeds should be avoided.

The 12 week order time frame is the norm. I ordered mine on 02/01/11 with expected delivery date of May 1, although I'm quite sure that's going to change due to the recent disaster in Japan, so who knows?? Production is suppose to resume today (03/24)

I bought a black touring/sports pkg/navigation/manual last week. Just got to expand your search to "any miles" and be willing to driver far to get the model you want. Use Autotrader/Cars.com, etc.. It was worth it for me

very useful. i hope it's wrong though haha - 3 cars, each 2,000 miles away :/
all are white (then there's two gun-metal which i've ruled out)

that's a looong drive. i wonder if they'd truck one to me and how much that'd cost...

in the 18 months I looked, there were exactly 3 black 6sp sport non-touring to be within 300 miles of philidelphia, baltimore, and virginia. When i was ready to buy there were 2 on the nissan site (which is the worst site ive ever used).

When I was ready to get mine, the dealer called the first place, it was sold that morning. They tried for ~2hrs to get ahold of someone at the second, and they just couldn't get anyone there.
They cut me a deal on the Z i have now, and i'm actually glad i got what i have.

Yes the nissan site is TERRIBLE, but sometimes you walk in and they make it worth your time
good luck!

You would think nissan would be able to hire someone to make a better search. It is amazingly tedious. I am also looking at a fully loaded which is definitely hard to find.

I too have been looking for a touring -sport package Nav. in the blue with persimmon interior, can't find one anywhere called tow dealers and they can't find one as well. I'm thinking of ordering one. Does anyone knows how far the 370z plant is from were the nuclear plant is just worried about possible contamination. I don't know if that even possible

It's possible but it'd have to be very close for the amount of radiation to be of any consequence.
