You're welcome. I am glad these threads are helping 370Z buyers everywhere. Also, by making these invoice threads, I learn many info that I haven't learned already (for example, you can ONLY add sports package to Touring Roadster NOT base, the new Nismo brake pads option added to ONLY sports pack 370Zs or the lack of spare tire in roadster etc). I do enjoy learning and helping out our fellow Z enthusiasts.

There, FIXed the post...

ROGUE 12-12-2009 05:21 PM

I'd rather pay $13 to haggle from the real price, not the imaginary price.

clubin90 12-20-2009 08:56 PM

2009 price from dealer

Ok guys so here's the scoop im 19 years old and am having my dad cosign the lease. I went into the dealership yesterday to get a price quote from the dealer. I am trading in my 2005 acura tsx and they are giving me 7800$ it has about 77k miles on it. I am also putting another 5k down on the car. Total 12,800k.

Now heres the kicker after I reviewed the invoice pricing which everyone is talking about. The car is a 2009 touring model with sport and A/T.

Now at this rate my payments would be roughly 435$ a month. His adjusted selling price is 38, 310$!

Invoice is only 35,724$!

so does this mean im paying like 2300 over invoice for this car? this is excluding ttl and they have to ship it over from california to az.

I also noticed something on the sheet of an assignment fee for 595$ wats this? Also there is a 500$ vehicle markup and it is a 2009 wat is this?

any help would be great! this doesnt seem like a good deal. I really would like some feedback as I would prefer to get this car before the new year so the payments dont go up in january becuase of the residual value.

theDreamer 12-20-2009 09:05 PM

Are you buying or leasing? You mention lease in your first sentence so just making sure.
Those two extra "fees" are BS fees and you need to fight them, also is the 38,310 the out the door price or is that before TTL?

clubin90 12-20-2009 09:21 PM

i believe before ttl this seems like a terrible deal as I just used edmunds and people are paying about 36, 872 which is a little over invoice

theDreamer 12-20-2009 09:23 PM

I would print out the invoice price with the options you want with a total at the bottom, hand it to him/her and say this is what I want to pay (before TTL). Do not be afraid to haggle or even walk away, at this point I would almost say you should be paying under invoice if you are buying the car.

clubin90 12-20-2009 09:31 PM

how much am i actually paying over invoice for this car and by the way this just includes tax not title and license

theDreamer 12-20-2009 09:35 PM

What is your tax rate?

clubin90 12-20-2009 09:37 PM

7.95%

theDreamer 12-20-2009 09:39 PM

38,564.058
That is invoice price times 7.95% for tax.

clubin90 12-20-2009 09:46 PM

so what would be a good deal on this car including tax title and license I guess you could say a final out the door price for the car

Slynky 12-20-2009 10:28 PM

I don't know, "club" and I don't want to come off sounding bad here but I just speak my mind---I could be wrong.

But what I think I see is a young guy who wants this sporty car and is willing to give up a TSX too damn cheap and the sales guys knows it. He knows he's got you drooling. And he's going to pull you in.

Hope I'm wrong but this doesn't sound like a good deal to me (unless you have beat the crap out of that TSX).

pulpz 12-21-2009 11:53 AM

I'd have to agree with Slynky,

Kelley Blue Book trade-in value is $9K-$11K. add $1k-$2k if you sell it outright. And KBB is lower than NADA appraisal. So the trade in is not a good deal, unless the TSX is poor condition.

I would only consider making this deal, if you could get +$2K out of the TSX and ATLEAST Invoice (you should get less) with no additional fees other than tax, title, and license., $100-$150 processing fee, and transportation fee ($500-$700).

Otherwise, I would sell the TSX myself, and keep shopping for another Z.

clubin90 12-22-2009 01:14 PM

took at trip down to carmax today for another appraisal and they are only offering 7k for the car. I should mention that I was rear ended so it is categorized as being in an accident. Car interior is in great shape and there are pics actually posted of my are on this site under cars for sale. No structural damage. I think I may settle for 8k for the trade in.

is $1500-2000 below invoice for a 2009 370z considered a good deal at this time?

I laughed at him and he left me with the salesman. It definitely sucks having to prove myself walking in because I'm a female. Cut out a lot of B.S. fast. Still shopping around. Thanks for this thread!

Which dealer was this?

I am guessing the lifetime powertrain warranty is an additional cost? How do they define "lifetime"?

MSRP = $35285, invoice = 32835, dealer quote = $30485 (aka $2350 below invoice) with lifetime powertrain warranty AT NO ADDITIONAL COST

OTD price was quoted $33888 (9.5% tax + $510 license/fees) still wondering if this is a great deal or can i do better? the car has 34 miles on it

this is for 2009 base 370z with auto trans, sports package, floor mats, splash guards

I think you did fine - would have been pressed to find a deal significantly better, if you did maybe only a few hundred dollars. At somepoint you have to be happy with a deal and take it before someone else does.

9.5% sales tax?!? damn! What state? Cali?

Dude, you did great! Take it and run. 09's are soon going to be gone. If you find something you like jump on it, or you will soon be settling or paying 3K-4K more for a 2010.

That "Lifetime Powertrain Warranty", that's 3rd-party, right?

As long as you have it in writing, I'm sure it's worth something. However, just as an example, the place I bought my RSX from touted free oil changes for as long as you owned the car. They were bought out by another dealer 2 years later so...bye-bye.

We offer a Lifetime Powertrain as well. But it's an actual warranty through Fedility that can be used anywhere in the U.S. I am sure it's the same company, very reputable. Fedility is the Manufactures warranty for 5 Manufactures, and Toyota is one of them. It may be a in house (dealership) warranty, check and make sure.

pulpz 12-31-2009 06:57 PM

Lou - I was looking over t Lifetime Powertrain Warranty info Justin forwarded by email prior to purchasing the car. It states that I need to keep copies of all repair orders for all maintenance service performed. I'll be doing most of the regular maintenance myself. How should I document this so I have sufficient records in case of a warranty claim?

getawaydriver 01-10-2010 08:28 PM

This site has been extremely helpful in my search for acquiring a 2010 base w/sport (6MT) via a lease (36 mo).

I had a few questions however. I am budgeting myself to maintain a 8-10% "cushion" financially. It is tight but would work. My budgeting includes the insurance rate adjustment and putting away money towards savings and creditcard payments.

I have a 2005 Legacy GT 5MT which I owe 7600 on (being paid off after purchased out of lease). It is in great condition, well maintained and mechanically sound.

KBB lists the car being worth about 11,050 in excellent. If I get this price, I will have 3450 to put down on the vehicle. This 3450 is what I would use as a down payment.

For the following calculations, I used a lease calculator on Car Lease Guide - Free Guide to Smart Car Leasing - LeaseGuide.com. I used a finance rate of 3% (middle ground between 0 and 6 percent), and, last I checked, a VA sales tax rate on an automobile of 3%.

With an invoice price w/ the sport ($30701), I can get my monthly payment down to 350 (leaving me a 6% cushion; very tight and financially irresponsible if you ask me).

With an invoice price minus 2K (28701), I can get the monthly payment down to about 254. This leaves me with a 9% cushion. Doable with that added room.

Likewise, with an invoice price minus 1.5K (29201), I can get a monthly payment down to 274. The remainder is an 8% cushion and slightly pushing it but I would take it.

My question to those who have recently purchased/leased, are these sort of "deals" doable or am I just setting myself up to not be able to do this?

I know that these guys are in their business to make a profit, but I don't want to go in asking the impossible. Also, I am not going to commit financial suicide over a car and am prepared to shelve this if it doesn't work.

Thanks again and I am hoping this works. Going to the dealer where I test drove the car to sit down tomorrow.

Need advice

Hey guys, I'm a new member here and I'm looking to upgrade from a 05 Toyota Camry LE to the 09 350Z. I paid off this Camry already, but the problem is that my mom owns the title to it. My mom is out of the country right now and coming back in March. She doesn't reside here permanently anymore so she doesn't need a car.

So my plan was to just buy the 09 350Z since there seems to be some good deals posted on this forum and in this thread. I don't have the full amount to pay and I just plan to only put down 6k. I figure I would do some shopping around first and then figure out the financing part before making any commitments.

I just went to Edmunds.com and did their dealer search and I'm getting quotes now. This one struck my eye:

2009 370Z} COUPE 6-SPD
K23-G
BRILLIANT SILVE, BLACK
Invoice: $28,043
FLO: $89
Freight Charge: $695
Total $28,827

What do you guys think? Bear in mind, I'm in California and tax is going to be killer also.

shoopajae10 01-22-2010 07:57 PM

As to "getawaydriver", I would wait until you are financially ready. Last thing you want is to say goodbye to your Z and your credit cause you cannot make your car payment.
