I did a demo drive in one back when I was looking for a RWD sports coupe. Here are my impressions:
1. Handling is good (but really not better than my 370 nismo IMO). 2. Interior is cheap. Actually, everything about the car is cheap. 3. It has back seats. Screw that. 4. Power is... well, there's no nice way to say it. It's laughably slow. 5. Everything is an option. So by the time you get one kitted out half decently you're into $30k for an economy car with sports car pretentions. ![]() 6. The association. FR-S fanboys are the worst part about owning that car. The reason they keep comparing it to the 370 is they feel the need to justify their purchase in the face of a superior but more expensive option. Kinda reminds me of some Z fanboys ripping the Porsche Cayman, actually. ![]() Buy what you like best and can afford. But don't trash the superior car just because you don't/can't have it.

Personally I say go your own way. If it's affordable & to your liking get what you want & don't bother with others thoughts. If you enjoy it, enjoy it & don't let some Web Racer who's probably still in high school say you shouldn't. Everyone will have different ideas of what looks good/works good. If it puts a smile on your face when you drive it, then it works for you.

buy whichever car you like and go from there. At the end of the day, it's your personal satisfaction that matters.
Personally, the brz and 370 are apples and oranges. If forced to select I would get the Z for being more muscular and grown up. Honestly, I would not mind owning a used brz just for short trips around the city. But for long and fun trips, I would use the Z. As for backseats, let's not forget that the Porsche 911 has backseats since its inception. You just have to cut off your teenagers' legs to use them. 😜😜😜 |
