I took a closer look at the "holes" on each sides of the front bumper and they aren't open. There's a black plastic in it.

I took a closer look at both pictures now that I'm back from work and holes are definitely closed. Conclusion: they don't give a **** as MightyBobo said

God damn shame if you ask me. This car could have been a great track performer with less work required, with just a little more attention to detail.
