Default 370Z spare tire

I picked up my new 2012 370Z, black rose Roadster a few weeks ago. What a charmer. The only problem is there is no spare tire, only a puncture repair kit. The user manual mentions a temporary T-tire spare that I'd like to get.

The parts dept. at my dealership tells me I need a plain steel 17" rim and a tire for about $800. Doesn't sound right. If I'm not mistaken the T-tire is a mini tire that fits in the spare tire well in the trunk.

Does anyone near Oakville Ontario have one for sale? My eMail is walt3@wblady.com. Appreciate any tips

does the roadster come with sport brakes? if so you will need to be very careful of the backspacing the donut provides. otherwise it will hit the caliper.

you might want to do a WTB (want to buy) ad in the for sale section.

It has the sports and navi packages. The tires are 19". Thanks for the WTB tip.

yah, definitely check the backspacing if you're going aftermarket donuts.

anyone know if the base 18" owners have a different donut than the 19" sport package base owners? i doubt it but i would check that just in case the 18" folks want to sell.

It is different. He will need the spare from a sport package.

Yup.

The 19" spare is a black enkei tire that looks pretty sweet. I actually sold an extra one I had to shado a while back. I think there's a guy parting with one in Dallas. Check the Parts For Sale section and/or put up a WTB thread.

Just remember you have to put the flat somewhere when you change it. I thought about picking up a spare, but after thinking about it I decided just to keep the fix-a-flat system. Remember you would have to be alone in the car and then be willing to try and stuff the dirty wheel/tire into your car on the passenger side. Just wasn't worth it to me.

I got to use my spare within 20 minutes of driving the brand new Z off the lot. I left the stock tire at my buddy's house, drove back to the dealer on the spare, and told them there was no way in hell I'm putting that tire in my brand new car. They gave me a Z loaner (which we had been driving for a week prior to picking up ours) to go pick up the dirty tire Now, I don't think I'd have that much of a problem putting a dirty tire in the Z. $hit happens and it just means I get some quality time cleaning the interior

how about carry a garbage bag in the trunk at all times, put the flat in that and then place in the passenger seat?

i rather have a way to get home/service station than use a fix-a-fat thingie which will probably not work that well on low profile tires especially in cold weather, ruin the tire, possibly TPMS, just for a nail puncture...

I had to rest it on the cross bar to clear the hatch when I put it in the loaner Z.

Mine too. In fact the dealer gave me an extra one a week later

No idea. Honestly, OP, I would go back to the dealer and tell them they don't know what the hell they are talking about. The sport spare is actually a very nice tire that I would expect to have been included. Talk to a manager about why the parts dept instructed you to purchase an incorrect tire size that won't fit over the sport package calipers...
