Default OK to winch onto flatbed from front tow hook?

I have to tow my Z on a flatbed. I have the 2x10s but I'm not clear on how to winch the thing onto the flatbed (in case I need to second-guess the driver). Is it OK to screw in the front tow hook and use that to pull it up?

Default Tow Hook

I've been wondering that myself.

Yep, when my steering lock failed last year, I used my tow hook to get me on the flatbed

Its if your boosted with no crash beam it can be a hassle. And although nissan puts a nice little cutout in the rear bumper for the tow hook there is actually nothing there to connect to :/

I had to load mine in reverse from the hooking point under the drivers side rear bumper and stand on the winch cable so that it did not heat the bumper. Ended up working out just fine tho.

My 2011 has a black plastic piece in front of the tow-hook plate that looks like it's a part of the front fascia. Do you have to pop that out to screw into the plate? Having never needed to tow my Z, I haven't really investigated it..

As it turns out, the dealer is sending a low-rider car hauler for it and bringing a 2014 replacement. Too much snow to even drive it out of my driveway.

shouldve used your tow hook to bang on the steering lock to free it, then pull fuse.

I would have never guessed the tow hook was for towing

I wanted to make sure it was suitable for pulling up onto a 30 degree incline, as opposed to flat towing it back to the pits. Better to ask here rather than relying on a random tow truck driver.
