It seems as though you are trying really hard to nit-pick. It's as if the car's alarm had indeed shut off after starting the engine, you would have posted "Why doesn't the alarm stay on while someone's driving away in my car?!"

BTW, what's up with everyone pulling the "For a $30K car..." crap? Does everyone realize that $30K nowadays is cheap for a car? Hell...a fully-loaded Civic will come damn near $30K. You're hard pressed to find something halfway-decent besides a stripped economy-car under $30K. The whole "I expect more out of a $30K car" crap is laughable.

I guess everyone wants wine on a beer budget.
