Default Upgrading the "Alarm"?

I know without the FOB the car is going to be difficult, if not impossible, to steal short of flatbedding it away.

What about something more, like if someone goes to open the door..and it set off the alarm, or, a window is broken...or something else?

Anyone thought about this? The 370z is a nice, hot looking car, and just screams "steal me" to those who have nothing better to do...

if you got an auto, get the Viper shock alarm system...it also lets you know which part got hit on a LCD key chain....it takes a whole shift to install this....8 hours for me.
a by pass mod had to be done.

to allow power to devices when the car is off, it wasn't as easy as splicing wires.......

Get Lojack if you want the car back. Thieves have found ways around nearly everything out there, and where I live your alarm could be going off for a solid 3 hours and nobody would pay it any mind. Lojack can be put in many different places in all kinds of vehicles, so there isn't one place where a thief can look to remove it. You don't put stickers on your car announcing you have it. Basically the thief finds out when he sees the flashing lights in your rearview mirror.

Good idea, what kinds of costs are there to those?

My lojack was a dealer installed option that was listed at $700.00, but they basically ended up giving it to me since I paid 200 over invoice. Dealers usually mark that stuff up big time anyway. I don't know what indipendent shops sell and install lojack. I would just check the Lojack website.

its about 600 bucks to get lo-jack installed. keep in mind that if you live in CA, AZ, or TX, that IF your car gets stolen and they cross the border, LO JACK will NOT be able to track it. once it crosses the border, consider it gone...something to keep in mind.

@takimbe: You mean if they cross into Mexico right? that's kinda of useless, since it only takes maybe 8 hrs at most and that's a work day. My roomate just got his S2000 stolen near the house and I am probably one month or two from pulling the trigger. Definitely leaning towards getting LoJack. How concerned are y'all about rims being stolen? I don't live in a bad neighborhood but things ain't what they used to be it seems. Got my bicycle stolen from my carport too, cut cable and all.

Alarms go only so far if someone's wants your car there gonna screw with it or find a way to take it so PLEASE make sure your INSURANCE covers everything so if it happens there no worry but an inconvenience while your insurance company sends the check to fix or Replace it. Lojack doesn't hurt.

I am going to have to agree with this. Also I HAVE looked at the wiring diagrams and all there is almost no way to integrate a aftermarket alarm to your factory one. The only thing I see that can be done is getting something like a viper 5901 and running dedicated power to it and still have the siren. The unlock and lock sensor would probably still work from what I see as the alarm can have either a + or a - signal coming from the locks. Also I would get a field sensor the will make the alarm go into WARN mode when someone gets near it. As soon as they get to close than it will go off. Also the shock sensor is always a good thing to have. I have a on and off opinion about installing a alarm in this car. Yes it is nice to have extra protection but that is worthless if you have a 800 dollar laptop and a 250 dollar ipod laying in plain sign in the trunk or on the seat. From what I see it would take me at least 3 days to install one the right way and make sure everything works. I have seen some bad alarm installs over the years and if it is as bad as the ones I have seen that it is not even worth getting one installed. So in the end do yourself a favor just use common sense and dont lay stuff out in the open especially around the holidays.
I am not showing you my work to get business just showing you that there is a right and a wrong way to install these systems.

One of the installs I REDID for someone.

The brain was relocated in the trunk somewhere.
