Default Nissan 370Z reliability -- better info ASAP

I wanted more up-to-date auto reliability information that included actual repair rates. So in late 2005 I started getting people together to make this possible. TrueDelta now reports absolute repair rates that make the differences between cars much clearer. Results are updated four times a year, so it's possible to report on new models like the 370Z quickly once enough owners sign up to participate.

We've had excellent participation by Nissan and Infiniti owners, and provided very quick initial results for the 2007 Versa, 2007 G35, 2008 G37, and 2009 Murano. We'd like to do the same for people interested in the 370Z.

Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter.

To encourage participation, participants receive full access to all results, not just those for the Z, free of charge.

For the details, and to sign up to help out:

Interesting information, but not collected in a way that you can gauge repair frequencies.

Five 370Z owners signed up so far. A decent start, but more needed to include it in the survey.

You should contact the forum owners about becoming a vendor as this is marketing since you sell data. Also, your sample will have to be large and area specific, if not dealer specific to gather meaningful statistics.

All of the results are free to everyone who participates. The "paid membership" option is primarily there to make it evident that there is a benefit to participating. Hardly anyone takes this option.

Since nearly all memberships are free, I don't have money to pay for sponsorships. What I can do, if this forum is interested, is refer people to it with prominent links.

As for the sample size, a large sample size isn't necessary, but would certainly be nice.

No, rate as in frequency, how often a car repairs a repair. Maybe I should have said "repair frequency"?

Thanks for pointing this out.

Then what exactly is your final goal for this venture? Do you sell your data to businesses? Are you sponsored by any businesses?

The site I posted is free, your sites cost money!

Sorry for the delayed response. Gmail must have put the notifications in my spam folder.

About that other site--if you want all of their information, you have to pay. For example, they charge for the text of TSBs. And whether or not you pay you still cannot get the type of information I'm providing.

About my site costing money--see what I posted a couple posts before you said that. The site's free to everyone who participates.

I am not sponsored by anyone. Might license the results to other sites in the future, but currently nearly all income (not yet enough to cover costs) comes from Google ads and such.

I'm working my tail off to provide this information, but responses like these are sometimes the thanks I get. As they say, "no good deed goes unpunished" and "cost of doing business." I personally want this information, no one else is doing it, so I'm doing what I can to make it happen.

Half a dozen 370Z owners signed up so far. Once a few more sign up, I'll go ahead and include it in the survey. Once we have 25+ responses, we'll have a result. Which I'll post here, for free, as a thanks to the community.

Hey, mkaresh.... I see you on a lot of other forums. You're also on my Infiniti FX forum, saying you're doing this all for free. Come on. I understand your purpose, but what really is your purpose? People in America, unless you are doing charity, don't do things for free. Most people don't. You don't call yourself a charity company, so let's go. Be a sponsor, and stop showing up on everyones' forums. I've seen TrueDelta too much, and don't see any giving to people who also work hard, and spend their money to keep these forums rolling.

I'm not a charity, but my wife frequently complains that I operate the site too much like one If someone's primary interest was making money, this would be a stupid way to go about it. In order to provide free memberships to everyone who participates, which is necessary to get enough participants, it's necessary to keep costs very low.

What I can do for the forum, if an admin is interested, is refer people back here from my site. I already do this for many other forums--the hard part is getting a response from an admin.

Right now a result for the 370Z in November looks iffy regardless. We're still at least a few participants short of where we need to be.

Looks like we'll have results in November for the Genesis Coupe, Porsche Boxster, and others, but probably not for the 370Z unless a high percentage of those signed up to participate respond to the survey.

A few more participants could tip the balance.

Based on responses so far, we won't have a result in November, but we'll probably have a partial result in February. It's going to be very close.
