I had similar damage on my Z before when I got rear ended. The thing about taking it to a body shop is that the paint they will use will most likely not match the rest of the car. It really sucked for my white Z and I just decided to buy a whole bumper from a member here who replaced his for a aftermarket. Luckily for me, i only paid like 350. Just a heads up about getting ur bumper repaired.
jaedub and Leadfoot like this.

For the love of god people - Call the cops and get the facts on record.

If you want to be a nice guy, donate some time to a charitable organization.

To consider not involving the cops and insurance just shows immaturity. I lost count of the number of threads like this where the OP ends up whining about getting screwed.

Live your life right and do the right thing. It's not always the easy way out, but there's a reason why matters are handled certain ways.

Cops do not insure facts lol. They can not say what happened and if someone wants to fight the cops will really have no say. Cops are NOT doing there best when they are sorting out accidents, they are doing there best when hunting down bad guys. Calling the po po can be a good thing or a bad thing. What if they cop sees it a different way. The cop can not say 100% for sure that you had a blinker on, he was not there. The cop has no clue what caused the accident. A screaming kid distraction or a hot chick distraction. I have only involved the cops a couple of times during a traffic accidents and the cop had nothing to say or divulge that would have made a difference. All they can do is write down what the individuals tell them. If it is bad enough and people are hurt sure but for a minor scrape which is all this was it is a waste of their time and our tax dollars.

Peace out and I am sure all will be taken care of. Looks like OP did well but Teri came out on top with 1/4 burrito.

Sorry, I'll take a police report and an insurance adjuster over some stranger that just hit my car and is now begging me not to involve the authorities.

He said/she said doesn't hold up very well in court. Without even a police report, you can't even really prove anything.

I hope all works well for the OP, but I will always advise to properly document and report any accident.

I kind of have to split the difference on the police. Yes, call, but it might not be a good thing.

Early '12 I was driving my new '11 Z that had just passed break-in miles. A guy rear ended someone very hard in the far left lane of the local interstate bypass. It's essentially a four lane racetrack all the way around Indy. I was in the far right lane. He lost control and swerved over and clipped my left front fender with his right rear.

The police were called. The officer decided that since I was in a Red Z Roadster I must have been racing. (Against a beater Malibu. Yeah, right.) He wasn't interested in listening to anything. The claims eventually went to mediation.

I had been testing out a GoPro mounted on the windshield, which officer not-all-that-friendly wasn't the least bit interested in. I paid the ticket - whatcha gonna do? I sent the video to my insurance company. He was found to be 100% responsible.

I'd have still called the police if someone else hadn't, but it doesn't always work out all that well. Perhaps Mrs. Officer had a headache the previous night?

Anyway, OP, good luck. And as everyone else is saying, involve 'em and hope for the best.
