Getting Calls From Dealers

yea, a couple dealerships near me are after my truck. i'm struggling to figure out why, i've got 150k miles?! who wants to try to sell an almost 10 year old truck with 150k miles, especially with a manual transmission? i mean for the mileage, my truck is in great condition but still

It's not really the car/truck they want, it's that they want to sell you a new vehicle!

They want you because your credit score is good and/or debt to income ratio is in a good spot.

How would they know that? They'd need his SSN to run his credit. Anyway, all credit inquiries would show up on his credit report, if he runs it, so he could know if the dealer has been checking him out. IMHO, that's worth doing periodically. The number of credit inquiries you get does affect your FICA score.

Yes and no. My brother-in-law has a small used car lot and it is hard to find used cars right now.
Most of the time dealers make more on a used car than they do on a new one. Mostly because they tend to bone people on the trade-ins.

Not always true. They can give you a good deal on a trade but with hold back and other things they get from the manufacturer they'll apply it to the trade to lower what they have in it.
