Default Stopping the mods...

No, I don't mean the moderators on here-they do an awesome job...

But modding a car. I find that as my car gets older (year and a half now) and more miles, I kind of lose interest in doing things to it. There are things that I'd still like to do & all, but just not the drive I had when I first got it. Hell, I had a whole shop full of stuff I'd ordered for it before I even took delivery.

I know a lot of guys keep going until the day they sell it, but I'd wondering if anyone else feels this way about it, that you just kind of lose interest in customizing it once it gets a little older?

Its reality setting in. The problem with the sports cars or having a really nice new luxury car is that they all eventually turn into old used cars and are simple transportation, taking you from point A to point B.

A sports car can not really be appreciated unless you can drive it fast to its full potential and the only legal and safe way to do that is on the track, unless you live in Germany.

So when your driving your sports cars, or luxury sedan down the road and little econo car pulls alongside you and your both doing the legal speed limit, getting from point A-B you have to say to yourself, is all the extra time money, mods and expense really worth it, for just driving down the road.

Reality and Money are a rude awakening !

I've had my fun since owning a new 350Z at 21, and selling it for the 370Z 6 years later. After picking up a daily ('99 Accord Sedan), I don't really miss my Z as much. I'm tired of trying to keep it perfect. As for luxury cars, I don't really care much about it. After living in my own pad for 1.5 years, priorities changed. Car payments are tiresome, so I'm not looking forward to the next $30k car. I'm finally taking a break after paying off my Z.

Granted, I love the turbos with this car. After a brief spirited drive one night, I've decided all this power can get quite scary at some point. As of last week I've not driven the Z as much. It's nice to drive it once in awhile on the weekends, but at this point I don't know if I'm going to keep it. It's tough to let go.

Troyz is on a distinguished road
Default Age/Mods

I'm 43. I knew the 370Z has a much younger audience. I had people tell me to get an Infinity because its a "Date" Car so I can find a wife; 370z will make me look immature. I figured fvck it I will get what I want while I am single. In the end I decided replace my unreliable BMW Z4 with a 370z.

No need to mod it. Its out performs 99% of cars I pass on my commute. I gotten lots of compliments on it too.

Troy, I agree. I'm closer to 60 than 50, but I got my Z because I wanted it. It was time to have a performance car, the hell with my chronological age. I'm past the point of caring what other people think about what I drive, most are just jealous because they don't have something cool. I've got a list of mods I want to do, I'm doing the easy ones (no lift required) first while I decide on the rest. I know $$$ plays a big part in what we do to our cars, some here are blessed to be able to spend what they want on their cars, others have to plan a little. I'm going to enjoy my Z.

I'm 55 and my last mod was three mods ago!

Every time I think I'm finished - or sadly more recently disgusted with the additional work/headaches/cost a mod creates - I get over it at some point and try something else.

I guess it's what keeps me interested in the car. I have to admit though, I really am closing in on the point where there isn't really much left I would like to do. I am NOT touching the motor since I have the Nissan 7yr/125k warranty.

Maybe once it's finished I'll get bored with it. I've never finished a project car, so that would be a new feeling. It just drives so damn good, I can't imagine getting rid of it.

I'm sure it's possible, I've just never been close. As soon as I think I'm done, someone makes new parts.

You are not alone on this one. I would say it is safe to say that their are a lot of us who have gone through the same thing, me included in this. From all of the cars to motorcycle that I have owned. This is what makes it fun for me. But in saying that their have been a few cars that I wish I still had.
