If these idiots would just get over to the right when they're not passing, then everything would be fine and dandy.

Cyclists can definitely be idiots and inconsiderate when they're on the road, but so can automobile drivers. My post was to hopefully inform 370Z forum members that the pendulum in the criminal & civil courts have swung in favor of the pedestrian/bicyclist and to share the road. Hope the above link works as you'll see the California and Hawaii laws do not differ much. Bicyclist have a right to the road as much as a car. If the lane is large, the cyclist should ride to the right, if it's small they don't have too. Question is, what's a large lane and what's a small lane (most of the lanes in Hawaii are small, thus they can ride in the center), plus how far right to the curb is right? Just be patient and considerate out there. |

I typically do what is necessary to make space between myself and other drivers. Sometimes I accelerate, sometimes I brake, sometimes I go into slalom mode. I can usually influence the other drivers behavior with my presence and by simply doing little things. If I speed up to 2-3 mph faster then the next guy he will try to not let me pass or take off like a bat out of hell thinking it suddenly turned into a race. One thing that gets my temperature up is something we run into here in NM is what a lot of people call a Mexican road block. It's where drivers in each lane refuse to pass one another and block up the entire road. I've seen it where 6 lanes of the freeway were blocked. It causes a chain reaction in traffic where people are at a dead stop 2 miles back and everyone thinks there was an accident. As far as bullying goes - this is the wild west baby, don't write a check that your a$$ can't deliver...

In my 300ZXtt I could sneak up on bikes (without trying) and startle them with an engine rev.
With the 370 and it's loudness, this has never happened.

But back to cyclists. That's good to know about the courts. Here's the law: Quote:
Fact is these bicyclists that ride side by side or in big packs are breaking the law.

I drive fast cars and am also a cyclist. I don't tolerate ignorant idiots in either group..
