I typically do what is necessary to make space between myself and other drivers. Sometimes I accelerate, sometimes I brake, sometimes I go into slalom mode. I can usually influence the other drivers behavior with my presence and by simply doing little things. If I speed up to 2-3 mph faster then the next guy he will try to not let me pass or take off like a bat out of hell thinking it suddenly turned into a race. One thing that gets my temperature up is something we run into here in NM is what a lot of people call a Mexican road block. It's where drivers in each lane refuse to pass one another and block up the entire road. I've seen it where 6 lanes of the freeway were blocked. It causes a chain reaction in traffic where people are at a dead stop 2 miles back and everyone thinks there was an accident.
