yah, i hate bicycle ridors too. i have a lot of them in the wooded area where i take my Z out on weekend drives. most of them ride single file, but you always have these hotshotmofo's with their big muscular bodies thinking they can ride in the center of the road and not yield to traffic or obey traffic signs.

they really need to make bicycle ridors to pay insurance and have special licenses if they are going to ride on public roads.

I can't stand bicyclists! Always breaking the law and riding side by side, or running lights, and just being reckless with their lives and my car's well being.

I'm not a cyclist and I don't know about PA (I'm going to venture it's the same), but in Hawaii the cyclist has the right to ride in the middle of the lane in the right lane and if making a left turn can ride in the middle of the left lane to make the left turn.

Most people including cyclist, don't realize that this is the law here. Thus I see a lot of cyclist almost get killed for riding far on the right and the car squeezing past them in the same lane pushing them even further to the curb. If the cyclist falls and gets hurt because of this, the driver of the automobile is at fault and can be convicted for manslaughter or worse yet murder 2 if the driver was witnessed harassing the cyclist.

Be patient, use your blinker and wait for a good opportunity to pass. Think of it like following a slow truck, everyone is entitled to the road, not just cars.

Cyclists don't have the right to ride 30mph under the speed limit and in the middle of the lane in CA. They must go as far over as possible if they can't keep up with the speed limit. Most of the time they ride in groups and side by side while going slowly. I think they should just get off the road.

Sharing the Road (FFDL 37) - Safety Tips for Bicyclists and Motorists

Cyclists can definitely be idiots and inconsiderate when they're on the road, but so can automobile drivers. My post was to hopefully inform 370Z forum members that the pendulum in the criminal & civil courts have swung in favor of the pedestrian/bicyclist and to share the road.

Hope the above link works as you'll see the California and Hawaii laws do not differ much. Bicyclist have a right to the road as much as a car. If the lane is large, the cyclist should ride to the right, if it's small they don't have too. Question is, what's a large lane and what's a small lane (most of the lanes in Hawaii are small, thus they can ride in the center), plus how far right to the curb is right? Just be patient and considerate out there.

The DMV is not a great legal source and neither is the CHP. I think both places state that tint on the front windows is illegal when there are applications where it is perfectly legal.

But back to cyclists. That's good to know about the courts. Here's the law:

Quote:
21202. (a) Any person operating a bicycle upon a roadway at a speed
less than the normal speed of traffic moving in the same direction
at that time shall ride as close as practicable to the right-hand
curb or edge of the roadway
except under any of the following
situations:

(1) When overtaking and passing another bicycle or vehicle
proceeding in the same direction.
(2) When preparing for a left turn at an intersection or into a
private road or driveway.
(3) When reasonably necessary to avoid conditions (including, but
not limited to, fixed or moving objects, vehicles, bicycles,
pedestrians, animals, surface hazards, or substandard width lanes)
that make it unsafe to continue along the right-hand curb or edge,
subject to the provisions of Section 21656. For purposes of this
section, a "substandard width lane" is a lane that is too narrow for
a bicycle and a vehicle to travel safely side by side within the
lane.
(4) When approaching a place where a right turn is authorized.
(b) Any person operating a bicycle upon a roadway of a highway,
which highway carries traffic in one direction only and has two or
more marked traffic lanes, may ride as near the left-hand curb or
edge of that roadway as practicable.
CA Codes (veh:21200-21212)

Fact is these bicyclists that ride side by side or in big packs are breaking the law.

It really depends on my mood but I do both aggressive and defensive driving when necessary. I usually let people out though and I always watch out for motorcyclists.

The best revenge I ever heard of was a guy who slowed down to follow a group of six bikers who were riding three abreast. He turned on his hazards like he was part of their crew. They finally stopped at a cafe, and he pretended to drive off. He parked around the corner, and while they were inside, he let the air out of all their tires. He left several of these laying on the ground next to the bikes

kenchan, Haboob and Ghostvette like this.
