Give the 7AT a bit of credit. I have a G35xS with the 6AT and it is the second best automatic transmission I have ever driven. Manually shifting it makes the car very engaging and the rev match system is excellent. The rev matching on the AT was one of the major selling points of the xS for me.

As much as I love that 6AT, if I bought a 370z though I would likely still get the MT. The 6AT is awesome in my four-door sports sedan, but the two-seat coupe is an entirely different beast. My heel-toe is lousy (size 13 feet and knee problems) but I have high hopes that Nissan has developed a manual transmission that can compensate for my lack of ability. If it works as well as the rev matching on the 6AT I think the 6MT will be an easy sell.

MT for life! After going from an Integra with a 5spd and then to a 2006 Subaru Legacy GT with an automatic transmission, I missed manual so much, that I took the hit and traded it in for a 2007 Subaru Legacy with a 6spd. There is nothing that disconnects you from your car more than having a slush box!!

I know many people here can't wait to test the Synchro Rev match but the new 7AT is nothing to joke about! They are saying it's one of the best they have yet to offer.

Those paddles do look awesome!

7 speed auto. I think people are going to be surprised when some of these car mags finally get around to testing the auto. It should be just as fast if not faster than the manual through the 1/4 mile and to 60mph... (This was certainly true for the VQ35HR). I'm not getting the auto because I think it's going to be faster though, I'm getting it because unfortunately I never learned to drive a stick.

Its not too hard to learn my friend.
That being said , I 'm sick of a six speed as traffic increases here.
The 7SP auto is a huge win.
This transmission is going to test very well comapared to other paddle shifters from the past and I imagine it will sway a lot of manual fanboys into the new niche of driving, and tuning.

I'd agree that the 7AT will run some good numbers AND be more consistent but I'm going to go with the 6MT simply for the fun-factor. Every car I've owned was a manual transmission, so I guess I'm used to dealing with traffic.
